Devin Singletary - Ready to Blast Off!!

Postby CGW » Mon Nov 04, 2019 9:37 am

Not much buzz around this guy, surprisingly. Is he as good as his box score is implying? He was an early RB target of mine in rookie drafts just due to the lack of depth in BUF and he seems to be taking control of the backfield.

2019 early 3rd round pick
Through 5 games active-
67 fantasy points
267 rushing yards
6.7 yards per carry
12 receptions
103 reception yards
3 total touchdowns

He's now getting volume to go with his high ypc, and seeing work in the passing game. I'm still getting offers for 2nds/3rds for him. Anything to see here?

Good burst, good hands, and an ability to avoid or minimize contact. He absolutely passes the eye test for me.

(Like Gimli) he's fast over short distances, but he won't run away with it. His lateral moves (jump cuts and stop-and-goes) make defenders look like they ODed on muscle relaxers. He's fun to watch.

I really like Singletary. My main concerns are not with his size, but his role. I'm not sure he will ever be utilized as a bell-cow or close to it.
That works fine for some great players in high powered offenses (Aaron Jones), but in Buffalo it won't translate into as many points.
Hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.

I may be wrong, but I feel as if the bills have used a feature back in the past more often than not. Hopefully yesterday is an indication of how he will be used. He had 20 carries and 4 targets against the redskins.

I watched him a little yesterday, and he looked pretty. I feel like the Bills are one or two pieces away from a very explosive offense. They could be 2021’s version of the Ravens.

It's hard to tell the difference between him and Gore out there. He's a patient slasher who can really burst through the hole.

Can't tell if that's meant to be a dig on his athleticism, or a compliment that he looks like a future hall of famer.

You're 100% correct, I was just judging based on their usages this season which is a lot of sharing.
I'd love for him to get 20 touches a week. Would really help me out in a deep league if he became the guy they feed in Buffalo.

Don't forget, if you get the chance, to review what guys like DLF_MikeH (Meurah) and DynastyDelorean have to say on this guy in their RB reports.

Singletary just had his first NFL career 100 yard game :)

I think he leads in YPC, or close to. I know, it's not FPPT, but still looks solid. In a ball-control, grind it out with defense team, he should be a nice RB type floor. Denver is not a bad defense, just held Cook (along with game flow) to under twenty some yards rushing. It's not like Allen had them back on their heels either, though he somehow matched Kelly's team record with 7 straight games of 2 tds.

Has to be rookie RB2 after Jacobs at this point.

1. Passes the eye test
2. The most productive after Jacobs
3. Essentially the same draft capital as all the RBs after Jacobs
4. Very good long term situation with a young run first team + good defense

QB: MRyan, MJones, CNewton, RFitz
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, JMixon, AJDillon, LMurray, DarWilliams, GBernard
WR: SDiggs, ACooper, BAiyuk, JJones, LShenault, BCooks, KToney, KHamler, VJefferson
TE: JSmith, ISmith, ZErtz

Team 2 - 16 team, PPR, SF
QB: JBurrow, CWentz, ZWilson, Jimmy G
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, BSnell, TGurley, DGuice
WR: JChase, BAiyuk, CSutton, THiggins, JJeudy, JReagor, BEdwards

I'd still take Sanders. He's more of a duel threat. He had a solid game today with almost 100 total yards, and I think he has the higher ceiling, and his receiving skills, and explosiveness in the passing game should give him a solid floor.
