Hopkins value vs 2020 1st

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hopkins value vs 2020 1st

Postby remedy29 » Tue Oct 29, 2019 8:33 pm

DeAndre Hopkins was traded for a 2020 1st and Jordan Howard. This is obviously a horrendous trade, but I do wonder how horrendous. The team that traded Hopkins is 4-4, the team that received him is 5-3 and a much better team, so his first is likely 7 at best, 12th at worst (and perhaps favored now to win championship with Hopkins). 1 pt PPR league.

I'd figure Hopkins is worth 3 mid 1st, plus Jordan Howard thrown in.

Btw...I need to find a new league, with decent entry fees and competitive league. Nothing like bad trades to ruin a league.

As you’ll find peppered throughout this forum, player and pick valuations fluctuate huge - so while it’s a pretty bad trade on the surface, Nuk hasn’t been Nuk this season and I know many who absolutely love Jordan Howard. Not as bad as many others posted here.

I value Hopkins right there next to Thomas. I gave Sutton and two mid firsts for him today. But this is why I offer trades....you never know what will get accepted.

Nuk hasn't been Nuk? He's WR9 in 0.5 PPR scoring, and WR7 in full PPR scoring. He's still catching tons of balls (5+ in every game), he just hasn't had quite as much yardage as last year, but there's still 8 games to go in the season and no Will Fuller for a while, which should mean his red zone targets increase.

So he's not THE WR1 right now. Doesn't mean he hasn't still been elite. He's on pace for 120 catches, 1234 yards, and 6 TDs, and I'd expect the yards and TDs to actually end up higher than that.

Edit: AND he also has the highest catch rate of his career at 74% as of the end of week 8.

Traded Hopkins for Evans + mid-late 1st before this weekend. He's still elite and should be fetching elite pieces, but I'd rather sell early than late.

Seems like a sell low on Hopkins to me, but the 4-4 team must be trying to stock up on picks, but he should have asked for a lot more. I certainly would not have made that trade.

That's one of the worst trades I've seen in a long time.
