Give him a 20% bump which can be had with adding most adequate QBs and hes a wr1
I'm a Davis supporter... But I don't see how you jumped that far. 20% more fantasy points would sit him in the WR3 range around guys like OBJ and JuJu... Oh my gosh there is a chance lol

He's on pace for 48 catches, 652 yards, 4 tds. A 20% bump isn't helping a thing. He needs a 80-100% increase to be a wr1

This is what I was getting at... Literally adding 20% to his numbers puts him around WR30ish

I'm using his last years stats. His only full year.

65 891 4

Turns into

78 1080 6

That's right around wr1 numbers. Barely. Probably VERY high wr2 numbers. Which sucks bleep if you wasted a top 4 pick on him but it's not exactly like he's in total bust territory

Last season Keenan allen was wr 12 with

97 1061 6

So yea just outside the WR1 role with a fairly modest bump

For whatever reason his targets and on fields percentage game both dropped from last year. If someone, anyone in Tennessee was stepping up it would be understandable. However this is not the case I don't see him ever getting a clearer path to be a true number one receiver. His career catch rate is also right around 50 couple percent. Not sure how much of this is on him but it's not a good sign.

Don't you think that is just a stunning indictment of the QB and coaching?

No one else has managed to really step up either.

One could make the argument that if Davis would have a modestly clear path (either immediately or after a short time) to be the #1 wr for his team, if he were on the (in no particular order) NYG, Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Panthers, Redskins, Bears, 49’ers, Cardinals, Jacksonville, Raiders, and Broncos. Oh, and the Eagles (depending on your thoughts on Jeffery). All of which would be moderate to dramatic improvements over the current one in Tennessee. He is literally in the worst possible place to play imo. I realize he isn’t perfect and above criticizing, but I think we as a fantasy community should see that patience is required in this case.

Exactly

It sucks and I do leave open the option that he isn't that good and even prime peyton could make jim relevant.

But basically it is what it is and he is a hold for possibly up to another 2 years until a proper verdict can be reach. Basically you should look at him as a wr3 with massive upside. No chance I'm selling and if you can get him for a late 2nd or so you do that all day

He is the poster child of drafting a player top 2 just because all the sites had him as a top 2 talent and then getting burnt. Always go with your gut and don't feel obligated to take a player you don't really want because he's ranked highly. I will never get stung again like I did with this guy. I was always gonna take Dalvin Cook at #2 but felt obligated to take Davis. Stupid.

The funny thing is I've never touched him in any other league. Only one, where he screwed me the most.

It happens more often than you think, that a top 4 rookie picks busts hard or have limited succes.

We all hope to pick the next superstar with a premium pick, but getting 'just' WR2 numbers would actually be quite alright too.

You'd have to increase his targets, too, buy that same 20 percent. So he'd need 135 targets. I meant to articulate that earlier, but I think I accidentally said he had 135 targets.

Someone on Twitter said Davis was #8 in air yds this past week with 183. So at least Tanny was targeting him deep.

ETA- that number seems nuts considering he had 6 targets... So maybe random Twitter guy is a bad source.

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Davis had the best tape out of anyone in his class, so it was not a shock that he still went first round. People forget that Davis is one of the few receivers who had Stephon Gilmore on a string last season. He's a legitimately good WR. Watch the tape.
