Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)

The cat astronaut is right.

AJB fully developed = Julio Jones type of player
Hollywood fully developed = Tyreek Hill type ( hopefully minus the offseason stuff)
I think both could be great Wr's if they develop to their full potential. Both very athletic, great route runners and could take this league by storm eventually. I just think AJB could be a dominant WR w/ most match ups given his athleticism + physicality. My pick is AJB here.

Austin had great straight line speed, but I never found his change of direction to be all that impressive. He also started his career under Jeff Fisher and Brian Schottenheimer, which I think stunted his development.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 5:34 pm Sell me on why Brown doesn't become another Tavon Austin? Similar college systems, similar player profiles and similar starts to their careers.

I’m being offered a mid 2020 1st for AJ Brown. Leaning toward holding... whoever I pick there would need to show what AJ already has to make it worth it.

It’s probably close enough to fair value, but I have no idea why you would make that move unless you need an RB or something and are loaded at WR.Shcritters wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:18 pm I’m being offered a mid 2020 1st for AJ Brown. Don't think anything has happened in first 7 weeks to sway peoples minds. So whoever you liked before your rookie draft, you most likely still prefer.
Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
That could very well be a shot at Jerry Jeudy or Ceedee Lamb in a Superflex league. (Assuming 1.05) If you're in any way as high on them as some, then I could see it.ericanadian wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:28 pmIt’s probably close enough to fair value, but I have no idea why you would make that move unless you need an RB or something and are loaded at WR.Shcritters wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:18 pm I’m being offered a mid 2020 1st for AJ Brown. The good news is that this trade should be there for you all year. So you can definitely hold for now, and watch the arrow continue to point upwards after AJB romps and dismantles the TB secondary. (God and Tannehill willing)
Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
We aim to please.
I'm with Phaded here. I don't see a Julio comparison in AJB at all.
The closest Rookie to Julio this year was DK Metcalf. In fact, DK is the closest in years to matching Julio's raw physical profile - from a size/speed score point of view, he's extremely similar - they both run 4.3 40's, and check in with similar verticals and weights (220-ish Julio, 228 DK).
Where they differ, however - and what makes Julio a true freak among men - is Julio's elite ability to change direction at this size. He runs rings around DK in this regard. I'm personally hoping DK takes up yoga to get himself looser through his hips this offseason... and maybe works on his routes other than Go and Post too... lol, anyway.
The easiest and laziest comp for AJB is Juju, which is what I am hopeful that he might become. The first time I watched AJB's tape, I was underwhelmed at the lack of "oooooh" plays. He's not a high-point battler / go vertical guy like Julio - he's always been more about being tough at the catch point through his route running, and then transitioning to RAC as quickly as possible - he reads the open field well, follows his blocks / play design, and fights and initiates through contact like an RB. He's very fun to cheer for when he's rumbling.
In that same "underwhelming" college tape, I realized I saw a guy cleaning up underneath, making catch after catch down low, getting loose and then turning upfield. The thing about that is - that's ab-so-lutely going to work in the NFL. As long as he's seeing the #2 CB, and continues to grow his craft - I can see no reason why he couldn't be the next "big slot" du jour in the league.

I like both but would lean AJ because of build.

Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
Come on now, his size is a legitimate concern. When you are the only player of your build really in the NFL it raises questions. It's not the reason he sprained his ankle, but being so tiny does put him at more risk and pretending otherwise seems disingenuous. If he was 20 lbs heavier, I'd have him at number 1 in this class. But he's not.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 3:44 pmCan we stop acting like Brown got injured because of his size? He has a sprained ankle. It does not matter how big or small you are, a sprained ankle is one of the most common injuries in the NFL, let alone sports. Narratives like this are why Brown was cheap in the first place despite the NFL telling you he was a very good WR prospect.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:33 pmThat's the thing will he ever be able l able to stay fully healthy? His small physical size at that level makes me believe it wouldn't be possible.
I'm taking Marquise over AJ. I think both players are very good route runners, though obviously in different ways. Considering that, I think Brown's speed over the top is the difference maker here.
-He can add the weight without losing his explosiveness, but that's not a given.
-He can overcome his small stature and ball out consistently, but again not a given
Until he can put together a solid streak of staying on the field in the NFL it's going to stay a very legitimate concern.
