Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
Which player do you prefer for their career. Marquise Brown, or AJ Brown? Schemes change, quarterbacks and coaches change. Thanks.

AJ reminds me of Anquan Boldin while Hollywood reminds me of DJax. Ill take AJ
Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
I think they both have the potential to be great receivers long-term.
AJB is more refined, and probably the better receiver at this point.
Hollywood has more potential due to his gamebreaking ability.

I have both. Marquise. When he is fully healthy people will be back on his wagon.

That's the thing will he ever be able l able to stay fully healthy? His small physical size at that level makes me believe it wouldn't be possible.

Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
Yeah that's my main concern. Secondary concern is I don't believe in Lamar's passing ability to consistently support a real WR1.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:33 pmThat's the thing will he ever be able l able to stay fully healthy? Outside of that Miami game he has been ahem, not great passing the ball.

Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
Can we stop acting like Brown got injured because of his size? He has a sprained ankle. It does not matter how big or small you are, a sprained ankle is one of the most common injuries in the NFL, let alone sports. Narratives like this are why Brown was cheap in the first place despite the NFL telling you he was a very good WR prospect.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:33 pmThat's the thing will he ever be able l able to stay fully healthy? I'm taking Marquise over AJ. I think both players are very good route runners, though obviously in different ways. Considering that, I think Brown's speed over the top is the difference maker here.
Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
I prefer Hollywood. The NFL told us he was the better prospect by quite a bit, and I haven't seen a reason to disagree with them yet. I do not care about injury risk as it is my general expectation that all football players will get hurt a lot. I do not factor injury risk/history into my evaluations unless there is a clear and obvious degenerative condition at play.

Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
Hollywood is awesome. The idea of him getting more built out physically, and getting more reps with Lamar over the coming seasons, and what that could all mean for both of their careers - that's exciting. For a guy already flashing as much as Hollywood, and already getting Lamar's attention downfield like he is - the idea of his 3rd year breakout (or perhaps even 2nd!) is extremely enticing.
And yet.
We can clearly see what Brown's situation is going to be over the next 3 years. It's going to be Lamar, a Ravens team that wants to grind on offense, with a run-first philosophy for ball control / t.o. possession purposes. This will only become more evident next year when Flacco's contract finally comes off the books, and Ozzie can get back to fixing the defense - something you just KNOW they are dying to do, based on what we've seen of Baltimore for the last 30 years. That has consistently been their identity. This year was about putting playmakers around Lamar, and letting him develop (I think we can safely call him ahead of schedule). Next year will be about balancing out the team whilst he's still on his Rookie deal.
AJ Brown is currently dominating PFF's grading system, and number 2 corners - all whilst playing a snap share that has only just started to rise. We've seen some serious RAC ability from him already on limited targets - and he looks like an absolute monster out there, in no way like a rookie. He's a f-in' tank. He will always see the #2 corner so long as Davis is there - just ask Chris Godwin how that's working out for him this year. The idea of this guy becoming even *more* refined as a pro is dead-scary... and we haven't even factored in the biggest part to his equation yet:
There's an EXTREMELY high chance he will be getting a new QB in 7 months.
Maybe it's Herbert. Maybe it's Burrow. Maybe it's Hurts. (It's probably not Tua)
Whoever it is - it can't be worse, and it *can* be a lot better. The fact that AJB is already doing this in a very bad situation speaks volumes to me for his future.
AJ Brown is the upside play, the long term play, the gamblers play. Get this guy on your team before it's too late.

Re: Which Brown rookie WR is better long-term (poll)
AJB for me. I roster both on the same team, and I would prefer AJB. I still worry about Hollywood's ability to stay healthy, and I don't think Lamar is that great a passer. I also think Lamar is going to get hurt at some point, and I don't know how he'll play after that. AJB is already flashing with poor QB play. I had him as my WR1 in this class, and I don't see a reason to change it at this point.

Sell me on why Brown doesn't become another Tavon Austin? Similar college systems, similar player profiles and similar starts to their careers.

Not sure which Brown you are referring to, but most obvious answer applies to both; far superior route runner to Tavon, not just in comparison to Tavon when he came out but right now today.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 5:34 pm Sell me on why Brown doesn't become another Tavon Austin? Absolutely awful take, no matter which Brown you're meaning. Please go watch some film. You will find complete route runners with excellent understandings of where to be, how to leverage their man and stack, and how to win at the catch-point.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 5:34 pm Sell me on why Brown doesn't become another Tavon Austin? Tavon Austin has never even come close to flashing these sort of skills downfield in the pros. These rookies are both already doing it.
