Contender or Pretender?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Contender or Pretender?

Postby bsp27 » Mon Oct 21, 2019 1:41 pm

Going into this season i was expecting to finish close to last with this team (team 1 in sig), now I'm gonna be 5-2 in third place. Is it good enough to compete? Should I be selling future picks to compete this year?

I dont think you have the RB's to truly push for the title but anything can happen once playoffs start. I would not sell any draft capital though and let it play out.

Really hard to say without any details. How many teams? What are your starting requirements?

Without knowing any details or what the other teams look like, I'd guess that you're closer to a pretender. For me, the decision to trade future picks depends more on what I can get rather than whether or not I can win it all.

RB and TE (in a TE premium) are much too weak to compete IMHO, I'd be selling off everything but your top 5 WR's, your 3 QB's and Hock.

In a SF, sometimes having 2 really good QBs can carry a team into the playoffs. However, if you don't have enough depth at other positions, I don't think that's going to be good enough to win it all. Looking at your roster, I think you're more of a pretender than contender right now, but with good pieces to continue building around.
