would you rather have a guy that HAS to win his assignment (TE) blocking or a guarantee of a WR taking a defender out of the play entirely?ericanadian wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 2:20 pmDoes it though? Pretty sure most TEs (especially 2nd TEs) can block pretty well.bjd5211 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 1:52 pmI agree this is likely the reason why, not because they are keying on Sanders. That still does make the defense a little harder to run against however.dlf_mikeh wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 1:37 pm
Even if it is true, I'm curious if this is because the Eagles have run more two TE sets than anybody, so defenses have to adjust towards the middle of the field a little more, thus resulting in "stacked boxes".
I seriously doubt everyone is game-planning against a guy who hasn't really done anything yet.

That can happen with Hendy's, but usually it's from a good Hendy, not a bad Hendy.

because every time a guard starts pulling, a defender runs straight through the line and hits the rb 4 yards in the backfield. how are they supposed to make yards like that?

Against ATLANTA defense:
Gurley- 18 rushes, 41 yards, 2.3 ypc - 1 catch, 13 yards, TD salvaged an otherwise horrid fantasy day
Henderson- 11 rushes, 31 yards, 2.8 ypc - 1 catch, 8 yards
How does a team downgrade this bad offensively in a single season? I don't remember Rams trading away every starting lineman from last year? Just, WTF

Re: Darrell Henderson is your new 1.01 now.
They lost Saffold in free agency to the Titans, which seems to have been a pretty big loss. I also believe they are relying on some young inexperienced players on the line.hockeyBjj wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 8:02 am Against ATLANTA defense:

Andrew Whitworth is finally showing his age too, he was exceptional the last few years at LT despite his age, but the bottom has dropped out this year.CGW wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 8:20 amThey lost Saffold in free agency to the Titans, which seems to have been a pretty big loss. And lets not forget they're all still dealing with the hangover of an absolutely brutal Superbowl loss that gave the exact blueprint for how to stuff this team's attack...
Compound that with the before/after splits from when team defenses started waiting until the 15 second HC mic cutoff to show their true defensive alignment...
And then just build in a bit of Gurley regression thanks to the knee and Goff regression now that he's shouldering the load for good measure.
The real stumper is "why hasn't McVay iterated and figured out the next evolution of his attack" yet. Perhaps they're too locked into this personnel grouping. I'll be very interested to see what changes they make this offseason, honestly.

Re: Darrell Henderson is your new 1.01 now.
A lot of people are looking at the loss of Saffold, but I’d put my money on the loss of Sullivan at center. I remember how much the Titans regressed when Mawae left and it was because Mawae was not only a All Pro level blocker himself, but he would adjust the assignments at the line and that can be huge. Sullivan was nowhere near Mawae in straight talent, but maybe he was skilled at assigning blocks and it was a bigger loss than expected moving on to a second year guy.

Absolutely. Center is right up there with blindside tackle in importance.ericanadian wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 4:21 pm A lot of people are looking at the loss of Saffold, but I’d put my money on the loss of Sullivan at center. It'd be interesting to chart TE snap and target counts since week 1 last year- it seems they've become more productive since mid point last year. Chalked it up to the Kupp injury, but they've stuck around this year.
