DLF HOF Week II Matchups:

TitusYoungsLawyer vs. Valhalla

Which Norse God do you think would be most likely to tolerate a summons? Hemdall? Thor? Freyr? Definitely not Odin. My guess is that TitusYoung is going into this matchup expecting to play Freyja, but he better be careful in case he gets tricked and plays Loki instead. That might make both teams as mad as Hel(a).

knotts4372 vs. Seventy5

Probably the most crucial of all Week II matchups. A loss here by S5 means that they would have been 5 points away from going 0-2. And their lineups are a lot more similar than one might have projected earlier in the off-season, thanks in part to the unLucky rash of injuries & situations that have played out.

Plank vs. maxhyde

This is a tough matchup to figure out - both teams have solid lineups & decent depth. Sometimes we have to use our other senses though so I have a hunch that Plank will Snell victory because I do not think the Rams D is a Brees to play against.

thebeast vs. sloth8u

The sloth has awoken. Whether or not thebeast will be taken by surprised by the speed and ferocity of sloth8us Godwin assault remains to be seen, but do not be surprised if sloth ends up 2-0 a year after going 0-2, especially considering how close the outcomes were in their matchups last year.

Dookmariot vs. nation31

Dook may be 2nd in Points Scored, but he was likely 1st in the hearts of many DLF Forum posters, due to his Cinderella 2018. However being promoted to ArchDook (of Austria) and going from underdog to contender may allow nation31 a chance to sneak in an assassinate Dookmariots chances of winning this week.

DLF_BrianH vs. hockeybjj

DLF_BrianH was one of only 4 teams to fail to reach the 100 point mark - a stat that may have gotten him much teasing in the DLF Writers Locker Room. Will he be able to bounce back against the underrated hockeybjj. Don't judge him by his attire is all I am saying ...

DLF_JaronF vs. ericanadian

Both teams find themselves a top the weakest division in DLF HOF. However after this week only 1 team will show that they have what it takes to guide this band of loveable misfit owners to the promised land. Odds are likely it will not be ericanadian unless he can find a way to distract Mahomes while coaxing a repeat performance out of John Ross.

ArrylT vs. JFever

Any owner who has the tenacity to start Peyton Barber on a short rest week despite all the scorn many an uninformed DLF Poster may cast upon him, has our respect. JFever also surely counts on Rudolph to repent from his sin of Goose Egg from Week I. Either way rest assured this Viking fan will do his best to counter anything thrown at him by the Hockenson led ArrylT and will not likely be led like a Lion to the slaughter (or a Tie).

DLF HOF Week II Results:

TitusYoungsLawyer 82.05 Valhalla 63.65

Even a solid performance by Curtis "Low Key" Samuel could not keep TYL from serving Valhalla. It was a Fant(asy) to think otherwise say many. Ezekly said many others. But in the end, when you're a Baker and you have a Rivers to cross, you don't know what you May Field until you've crossed it.

knotts4372 120.20 Seventy5 98.50

We said it was a possibility that there would be an upset. So it should knotts come as a surprise that an upset was to be had. We may not have been 100% sure of this outcome but we are Seventy5 sure that Watson your mind is what is the best adage to use here .. That would be 'He who has Antonio Brown laughs last".

Plank 133.50 maxhyde 60.90

Well this definitely was not a Brees for maxhyde, and not likely to be going forward either. And we were correct in thinking Plank would snell victory. If Ekeler keeps this up, Plank may be tossing other teams playoff aspirations overboard quite quickly.

sloth8u 125.25 thebeast 87.35

Godwin, Cook & Golladay were pretty much all sloth8u needed to keep thebeast at bay, Fournetteuly, even with a Graham goose egg.

nation31 115.25 Dookmariot 112.10

They say that many teams play above their weight class when the defending champion comes to town. Well Dolphins & Steelers notwithstanding of course. Our DLFIS (Dynasty League Football Intelligence Service) was correct to warn us of an assassination attempt and unfortunately the ArchDooks security team did not seem to take the threat too seriously - at least not enough to be Keenum to bench his Cousins, a move that would have stymied the attempt. Nepotism rarely pays!

hockeybjj 154.80 DLF_BrianH 124.50

We used to call him hockeybjj - but we may now need to call him Mr. Hockey, after this dismantling of DLF_BrianH. Maybe if you're nice he will let you call him Gordie. But I would stick with Mr. Hockey, or Sir, until advised otherwise. We warned you not to judge him by his attire afterall ...

DLF_JaronF 130.75 ericanadian 95.05

Well ericanadian might be soon known as a WR whisperer by how well he coaxed another strong effort out of John Ross. However he was about as successful at stopping DLF_JaronFs Mahomes powered team as Gregg Williams was at stopping Odell Beckham ... I doubt we need to explain any further. But DLF_JaronF should watch how fast he Gallups, in order to avoid more players coming up lame.

JFever 103.65 ArrylT 48.80

Fans of ArrylT (the few that there are) knew this matchup could be painful. Especially when the ultra intelligent, highly respected, much loved & usually successful JFever started the underrated Peyton Barber. All we can say is that he is a cut above many others. But they were not prepared for how badly it Mostert to score so little and we can only hope that the pain Wentz away soon.

DLF HOF Week III Matchups:

knotts4372 vs. TitusYoungsLawyer

This looks to be a potential slugfest with both teams loaded for bear. However TitusYoung has a potential achilles heel in his TE situation with the recent Njoku news, while his opponent could eventually have knotts1, knotts2 but 3 potential TE1s on his roster.

Valhalla vs. Seventy5

If Seventy5 was a sick patient, there are few better remedies than playing a Valhalla as a tonic to recover quickly. On the other hand, a loss here could severely impact S5 going forward.

Plank vs. thebeast

All divisional matchups, especially in leagues like this one, can take on a tone of extra importance. A win here could set the tone going forward, in what many could consider the toughest divsion in DLF HOF.

maxhyde vs. sloth8u

Can sloth8u start off 3-0 - having maxhyde Breesless, is certainly a step in the right direction. However it is important to consider the outcome lockett in already, as maxhyde still has other weapons ready to roll.

DLF_BrianH vs. nation31

Sometimes it is now how you play, but who you play and when, that can make the biggest difference. For example, the all-play feature suggests DLF_BrianH should at least be 1-1 based on his production so far. Unfortunately for him, he is not. However he does give nation31 a good chance to make the statement that nation31 is the force of the Black Division, and not Dookmariot. Whether or not he will take advantage of this ...

Dookmariot vs. hockeybjj

It has been mentioned before that some teams can punch above their weight class, when facing the league champion. Well in this instance it looks like both teams are in the same weight class, so this could be a nice 12 round fight that will go the distance. Can hockeybjj be the lead scorer 2 weeks in a row? Or will the ArchDook stop the insurgents threatening to take down his Duchy?

JFever vs. ericanadian

JFever was correct last year in his surmise that Rudolph could outscore Gronkowski going forward - but that cannot be much consolation when 1 player is retired. His opponent this week may soon be known as DLFs fantasy player whisperer with how he has gotten production out of guys like John Ross and Mark Andrews, as if they were Calvin Johnson & Tony Gonzalez reincarnated. Next thing you know Devin Singletary will be the next Barry Sanders? If this keeps up DLF will have to be renamed ELF and all of the forums will bow down and worship him as the fantasy saviour (rather than Smitty).

ArrylT vs. DLF_JaronF

JaronF is likely feeling quite at maHomes with this matchup. And things are coming up roses, such as GB announcing that we should expect to see more Jamaal Williams going forward. ArrylT will work hard to stop his opponent but there could be Kittle he can do to stop JaronF from going 3-0.

Trade snuck in just under the wire before 1pm (as in with 8m to spare):

Valhalla and thebeast have completed a trade:

Valhalla gave up Jones, Daniel NYG QB and Edmonds, Chase ARI RB
and thebeast gave up Year 2020 Round 2 Draft Pick from thebeast and Year 2020 Round 3 Draft Pick from thebeast

Jones was taken at 2.15 (32nd overall) so one could argue this is a push since Jones hype has equalled 2020 hype.

Edmonds was drafted by me in 2018 at 3.02 (36th overall). Valhalla acquired him in exchange for Yeldon & a bump up in the 3rd round of the 2019 3rd.

All in all I'd call this trade a tie - Valhalla gets the more liquid assets in a year where the picks will likely be coveted, and thebeast gets depth at QB/RB without paying through the nose.

DLF HOF Week III Results:

TitusYoungsLawyer 138.20 knotts4372 134.60

It what was the tighest match of this week, TYL found a way to bend the fantasy law in his favor. Don't you just hate lawyers? ;) Actually more seriously, the loss of Antonio Brown hit knotts hard - that and not believing Adam Humphries could be the Humpty Hump.

Seventy5 137.75 Valhalla 81.15

Like the doctor said, to cure a struggling team, take 1 Valhalla and see you in a week! S5 finds himself in a 3 way tie for 1st thanks to TYL.

thebeast 173.50 Plank 154.05

If the KC/Baltimore was the NFL matchup to watch in W3, this was the fantasy DLF HOF matchup to follow. In the end thebeast roared and rumbled over the Plank avoiding the water. And he must be feeling pretty good knowing he not only has a solid backup to Newton, he may now also have a QB of the future in Daniel Jones.

maxhyde 139.60 sloth8u 89.75

You know it might be a long day when your ARod gets outscored by a Minshew. Fournette & Cook were a great 1-2 RB punch but their output was not enough against the big games from Cooper & Lockett, as only one of them outscored Godwin, Landry & Golladay combined.

DLF_BrianH 144.60 nation31 90.20

Well All-Play was right - BrianHs team was better than their record suggested and they made sure that point was made clear to nation31. And Keenan Allen may be making a push to be a top 3-5 WR this year, which bodes well for his teams chances.

Dookmariot 127.90 hockeybjj 100.35

Dook took no chances and made sure to karate chop hockeybjj down to size with strong performances from CMC & Darren Waller - who seems to be making a case that he, not George Kittle, is the Dynasty #1 TE. ;)

JFever 84.35 ericanadian 33.15

Rumour has it, that a cabal of DLF Owners jealous of ericanadians fantasy whispering skills, paid an assassin (whose name may or may not rhyme with Weaver, Beaver or Cleaver) to give ericanadian a potion to destroy those powers. The fantasy community will be in mourning if this is the case, and players like Devin Singletary & John Ross will no longer have their Angel of the Canadian Outfield looking after their fantasy prowess.

DLF_JaronF 127.70 ArrylT 59.15

Undone in the semi-finals last year, JaronF may be making sure he'll be in contention for a top 2 seed, by making short shrift of opponents like ArrylT. Speaking of ArrylT rumour has it that his TE1 James O'Shaughnessy is not meshing well with the rest of the team and could be had for as cheap as a future 3rd. Not sure if anyone wants to buy a top 16 TE so cheaply on just rumours though.

Laquon Treadwell still has his supporters as DLF_JaronF outbid me for his services!

Winning bid of $20 (approx 7% of a $300 limit).

Some power rankings time! Don't have time to go roster by roster and give a little summary of ups and downs ahead of them, if others want to give thoughts please go ahead. Early season it's kind of just median scores, the system works better to more reward hot teams and punish teams that have faltered mid season

1) Knotts
2) JaronF
3) Plank
tier break
4) Hockeybjj- I am being falsely inflated by Lamar Jackson murdering easy teams first two weeks
5) Dookmariot
6) Sloth8u
7)thebeast
8)brianh
tier break
9) Sevent5- although his team should come roaring back to life once healthy. Impressive list of Barkely, Hill, Melv Gord, and AJG all out
10) nation31
11) Titusyoung's lawyer
tier break
12)maxhyde
13) jfever
tier break
14) ericandian
15) valhalla
16) arrlyT

Those bottom two teams are tanking so hard I propose the motion that we forcefully rename whichever team gets teh 1st overall the Miami Dolphcans
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:

Yes thanks for the rankings. Definitely agree that my team deserves to be ranked near the bottom if one is ranking based on 2019 potential. :)

I don't really have any quibble with the word tanking - so long as it is meant as the definition of suffering in the short term so that the long term has optimism, rather than the definition of intentionally losing games.

Looking back over the year & a half I've had this roster here are the players I've moved on from (traded away) that were on the roster when I took it over:

D. Baldwin (retired)
J. Maclin (retired)
J. Reed (hasnt played yet in 2019)
W. Gallman (prior to Barkley drafted)
M. Wallace (retired)
G. Tate (hasnt played yet in 2019)
E. Manning (QB28 atm & benched)
J. Landry (WR 58 so far)
G. Olsen
L. McCoy
D. Williams

I only mention that in that this team needs a heavy dose of youth infused in it regardless, and looking at the names I don't see my team having done much better if I wasnt looking to the future more than the present. :) I do look forward to the day my team is deserving of a higher ranking though. :)

Not accusing anyone at all of intentionally losing games, only that the teams are set up to be rough this season (even with optimal lineups set) and looking forward to greener pastures future seasons

I don't think the Dolphins head coach is intentionally making play calls to ensure they lose each and every week. Their front office is however definitely trading away talent that they are unable to properly use before it ages out for youth and picks so that the team will be hopefully good a few years from now. That's what I call tanking, intentional tanking is a whole 'nother thing and is a form of self collusion imo.
