Rebuild - Trade Ertz?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rebuild - Trade Ertz?

Postby Jangles » Thu Sep 19, 2019 8:25 am

5th Year of Dynasty and I am in a new position - Total Rebuild. Do i hold on to 28 year old Ertz or let him go?

I feel like I could be competitive again in a year or 2, i have draft capital and young potential at RBs. Should I trade Ertz (i am getting some good offers) or keep him around. Having a top tier TE is so convenient that i hate the idea of dealing him, but with his target share expectations over the next few weeks, i have a feeling this will be his peak value.

Would love any thoughts on Ertz (get draft picks? swap for a younger TE and a pick?), or other suggestions on my defeated roster below (I plan on shipping off AJG and Tate sometime this season):
14 Team, 1/2 ppr: Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, 2 Flex

QB: Hurts, Tua, Minshew
RB: Ekeler, Henry, Swift, Mattison, Gus, Gainwell, D. Harris, Carter, Strong
WR: Jefferson, CD, Waddle, Evans, Adams, Hopkins, JuJu, C. Moore, Pierce, Goodwin
TE: Ferguson, Schultz, Knox, Tonyan, Jonnu

'25 Picks: 1, 1, 2, 3

What are the offers you've gotten? If they're as good as you say, I'd sell and speed up the rebuilding process.

3 so far (might be able to counter better):

Mike Williams, Vance and a Late First

Sutton, Mark Andrews and a likely mid 2021 1st ... for Ertz and AJG

An early 2020 1st
14 Team, 1/2 ppr: Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, 2 Flex

QB: Hurts, Tua, Minshew

Who's adding? If it's you, would depend on how small the piece is. If he's adding, doesn't matter what it is and I'd take it straight up. As for the other offers, I like the Sutton, Andrews, 1st one best (but I'd try to see if you can make the 2021 into a 2020 1st).

If you get Kittle + a small piece, that is a nice deal long term.

I like the Sutton, Andrews, 1st deal quite a bit. Agree you should push for a 2020 1st.

Definitely trade ertz in this situation. It's likely he's in a worse situation in 2 years. I like the Sutton, andrews, 2021 pick. If you can make it a 2020 1st (even if you need to add a late pick in 2020 or 2021) it would be better quite a bit. I'd be hesitant on the "early 2020 1st" since it's possible it's not as early as you think. The m Williams, Vance, and 2020 1st I probably like the least. Unless you can flip Williams and vamce for More assets

The Sutton/Andrews deal is an easy accept for me. The other two, i'd strongly consider. I don't see Ertz having another year like last year and his value will prob only go down in the years moving forward. It's not that difficult to grab a young TE (see Andrews, Hock, etc) during a rebuild. However, getting one like Andrews as part of the deal makes it even sweeter. I'd pull the trigger on that and not look back.

This is the worst deal of the 3 imo. Who was talking about Kittle and an addon? If you can get him to give you Kittle and anything else at all, you should do that.

Kittle swap would require me to add a small piece, sorry if that wasnt clear.

Going to try and pair Ertz up with AJG and get some youth first. Then if that doesnt work out, weigh my best options in picks or a kittle swap.
