Survivor Pool: Week 2

Postby pokerface40 » Tue Sep 10, 2019 1:46 pm

So the obvious chalk is to take the Pats at Miami and call it a day.

The other two games I'm considering is Ravens hosting the Cards and Texans hosting the Jags.

What are you guys thinking?

I'm taking Baltimore at home vs Arizona. Don't want to use the Pats this early, plus they do have some weird struggles in Miami historically. They'll still certainly win, but I just think they're more valuable to use later in the season.

I'm going CAR, I know it's risky but I feel like I need to use them. I have BAL penciled in at week 6 Home to the Bungals... Of course they almost knocked out my 1st pick this week in Seattle... Saving NE for week 17 but here's what I have so far

Week 3 DAL vs MIA
4 Chargers at MIA (had Falcons vs TEN but switched it just now)
5 Eagles vs Jets (could also go Bears at Raiders or Pats at Skins, but I think saving the Pats is the smartest bet)
6 Ravens vs Bengals (Packers vs Lions or Rams vs 49ers)
7 Packers vs Raiders (lots of good teams playing good teams this week)
8 Vikings vs Skins (Rams vs Bengals, Texans vs Raiders, Saints vs Cardinals, Steelers vs Dolphins... Lots of flexibility here...)
9 Steelers vs Colts (Jets at Dolphins... Tough week here. I'd like to go Seahawks vs Bucs but used Seattle week 1)
10 Bears vs Lions (maybe Colts vs Dolphins but Bears seem obvious here)
11 Saints at Bucs (lots of good matchups with good teams here too)
12 Browns vs Dolphins (Texans vs Colts a possibility, want to pick ATL but that seems a trap vs TB)
13 Chiefs vs Raiders (Rams at Cardinals)
14 Texans vs Broncos
15 Giants vs Dolphins
16 Rams at 49ers
17 Pats vs Dolphins

Use the Patriots. They don’t play the Dolphins again untill week 17, that’s a long ways to go. There may be other times to use them, but that’s is the easiest, biggest gimme of the week. It would suck to get knocked out week 2 because you got too cute and didn’t take the easy call.
On a side not, I’d seriously consider just playing whoever faces the Dolphins every week. They’re that bad, a realistic chance they can go 0-16. That would only leave 3 weeks you’d have to fill when they play the division opponents the second time.

After my SEA pick barely got me through last week, I'm taking NE. And next week, I'm likely taking whoever MIA is playing. And then again, and again and again until I can't.

For those saving the Patriots for later...

Is picking the Panthers over the Bucs tonight getting too fancy? I just can't imagine the Bucs winning in Carolina, I thought they looked bad against the 49ers. I wasn't able to see Rams-Panthers last week though. I know that was a home loss for CAR, but it looks like they were competitive throughout the whole game.

Is it bad that I fear Kyler Murray and Gardner f***ing Minshew more than Jameis Winston?

I'm taking Carolina tonight, I don't particularly love it but I'm going to have to use them eventually and this seems to be the best matchup to do so.

That's basically my thinking. Will cross my fingers and hope that Kyler and/or Gardner balls out on Sunday. I can see Jags-Texans being a trap game (granted I've always found the Texans to be a little overrated, probably cause I don't like BOB).

I saw a tweet last night that said Brady is 7-10 lifetime while playing against Miami in Miami (1-5 in their last 6 visits to Miami). It's an interesting statistic that shows he plays his worst football in Miami.

He has more Super Bowl wins than wins in Miami over the past 6 years! Would be interesting to see how he does in a Super Bowl in Miami this season.

Take the Ravens. Pats should win, but they always struggle in Miami.

I was taking Baltimore, but I like some of their matchups later, I think this is the best matchup to pick Carolina though. Agree the Pats should and most likely will win, but I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they did actually lose.

I'm taking the Ravens here. Was also considering Hou over Jax.

Avoiding NE @ Mia for 2 reasons:
1) I try to avoid what should be the most popular choice
2) I can still pick NE over Mia later in the season

Just a heads up, Patriots don’t play the Dolphins again until week 17. They’d probably rest their starters too

And still win... Or they could be going for 16-0

Cool. Jets and Bills may not be that great either.
Also not only may pats be going for 16-0, but Dolphins could need to lose the game to get the 1st pick in the draft.

I'd add that Cleveland @ NYJ on monday night may be an option to consider. Darnold out, Bell injured. However in general I like to avoid away teams.
