By 2020 rookie draft time? I would expect him to be pretty cheap already with how poorly everything has unfolded for him over the past 3 months. He went in the early 3rd round of my rookie draft and I expect I could get him for a 4th round 2020 pick right now.

How do you figure this? He's had bone fractures, not muscle/ligament damage.

White is failing as a pro because he has no versatility and not enough craft. The lesson with Kevin White is that older WR prospects lacking in both those traits should probably be avoided. Doubly so if it's a JUCO transfer with only one great season, which was also their final season; White for one year dominated college by being more physically developed than the DBs covering him.

Didn't white also have a broken shin bone? That's a little different than broken hand/finger.

I bet he's practically free right now. Swapping of picks or sending over minimal contributor this year if he is on a contender.

I can see that; Then again he could be Jimmy Smith of yesteryear who had all kinds of injuries with the Cowboys yet ultimately shined with the Jags.

The thing no one really knows is what type of effort a player will put in once in the league. White had injuries but my guess is he also didn't go the extra mile to get better.

Butler is big but doesn't play fast or run any decent route so he was going to need time anyway. Hopefully he comes back next year but who knows.

It is horrible for Butler. Never easy for rookies to have to put their dream on hold.

I assume most owners who drafted him would stash him away and only sell during rookie fever season - since right now is obviously the current low point in his value - I just think the next drop would be when all the 2020 players declaire - but I could easily be mistaken and he could be very cheap right now also.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

So, if we're keeping score at home:

- Butler nosedived in the NFL Draft to the 4th round (when he was being mocked as the 1.01 on DLF ADP  )
- Only had 1 good year in college as a senior
- Is going to miss his rookie season, which allows other players to cement themselves in a new offense with a new QB and Coach
- Turns 24 in May
- Is considered very raw

I won't write a player off after one year, but the above timeline doesn't look encouraging.

Yup, but worth the IR stash at the moment. I didn't invest much in him, so no loss if he busts.

I got him in round 11 (we keep 10, so essentially round 21) yesterday in our keeper/cap league...waited for the draft to end, IR'd him and then picked up another young WR.

He was basically free, so I figured I'd go for it.
