This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rookie Draft 1.01

Postby JamboMac » Mon Aug 12, 2019 2:41 am

After the first week of preseason, and training camp over with. Who are you taking at 1.01 now?

This is an orphan I've just taken over. Need a WR, but RB wouldn't go amiss either. I've tried selling the pick, but nobody has shown any interest at all, which is a bit strange.

I'm assuming this is a rookie only draft?

There's no clear cut number 1 guy, which is why you're not getting any interest in that pick. Anyone sitting at 1.03 will almost get 1.01 value with whoever is still left from Jacobs, Harry, Sanders. And because of that, the 1.03 pick has nearly the same value as 1.01.

In any event, I'd take any one of those three guys and be happy with it. I think Jacobs could be the best of those three, but if you need a WR, Harry is looking pretty good as well so he won't disappoint. And to really throw a wrench into your decision, I took Sanders with all my 1.01 picks. I don't think he'll be the best RB this year, but I do think by 2020 he'll start to look the best of the bunch.

I agree to a point. Sanders is better than Jacobs, imo - although as you said, he won't start this year. I also think as long as he is with the Eagles, he will never be a true RB1. Montgomery holds as much value for me, and think he can be the best in this class. Where as Harry, I think he is a step above the rest at WR. I'm leaning more towards Montgomery, but I need Harry more, I think.

The 1.01 usually always holds value, even when the class is weak, as some of these guys are stand out. You usually get tons of offers, even if it is a daft one.

Jacobs, but argument can be made for Sanders as well. I'd put the WRs after those two.

I would go with Jacobs. He should see a heavy workload immediately and has very little competition. I think he is the must draft with the 1.01 is year.

This draft is really tough because there is not clear-cut 1.01. Jacobs seems to be the consensus on these forums. In Dynasty, RBs are generally harder to come by than WRs.

Harry has mixed reviews coming out of camp. Also being with the patriots draft stock means nothing. He fell to me at 1.06 in my draft after I took Monty @ 1.03.

I think taking Jacobs is the play at 1.01 simply because I think he will have the most immediate return (which would subsequently allow you to flip him for value mid or post season).

I think the play on Harry is letting someone else draft him and when he underwhelms make a play at much less then current draft price.

I have Jacobs, Monty and Sanders all similar and wouldn't fault anyone for shooting their shot with either of the 3.

Draft for value, trade for need. Dont take the WR because you need one, trade from strengths to fill needs and simply draft BPA. ESPECIALLY AT 1.

I ended up taking Jacobs, even though I needed a WR more. I'm up at 2.01 as well, and Marquise Brown or Parris Campbell tend to end up going around there. So I'll grab one of them.

Plus Curtis Samuel is a FA, so I'll grab him at 3.01 if he is still there, which he should be.

With all the buzz around Curtis Samuel I highly doubt he'll be there at 3.01.

Samuel will only be available at 3.01 if everyone drafting in the first 2 rounds is as dumb as the guy who cut him in the first place.
