Oh look, another Damien Williams thread with a cat fight
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

It'll be nice when the season starts and we can start having threads of substance again.

This Damien Williams nonsense has been going on for months, with the same sides making the same repetitive arguments and generally refusing to acknowledge the validity of both sides.

Instead, it turns into a pissing contest. There is a reason it is better to check out of most threads around here after a certain number of posts.

So 74 pages about 1 players theoretical production/role this year is enough?

Getting back to the thread title, I'm really interested to see Hyde's usage. I think there is a strong chance he is their preferred goal line back.

Hyde definitely has the body type to be the goal-line option.

I find quotes like this interesting (despite the fact they say Williams is the starter).

“One thing with all of our backs is that we are coaching all of them to be the starter,” Bieniemy said. “Coaching all of them to take somebody’s job. At the end of the day we want to put the best players in the best situations to give us the best opportunity to win, so right now we want to watch how these guys compete; that’s the name of the game. We’re in training camp, we want to compete for a job. Who wants it, who can improve on the little things we worked on and talked about throughout the offseason. But when it’s all said and done with, let’s come out and maximize the opportunity being presented.”

At the end of the day, they will deploy these RB's however they feel gives them the best chance to win. It should be interesting to see.

Hyde's body type fits perfectly on the bench.

Is the general consensus that Hyde is a trash RB? He had a down year in San Francisco as their line was being reworked to fit the outside zone system in 2017 and last year Hyde was playing for two trash offenses (Cleveland’s offense didn’t really come alive until Mayfield came in and even then was inconsistent.) He’s clearly not elite, but he’s shown he can be effective in the right system. His time outside of Kansas City was substantially better than where Damien Williams was coming into last year.

2018 Browns
50% success, 5.2 YPC Chubb
49% success, 4.8 YPC Duke
38% success, 3.4 YPC Hyde

2018 Jags
47% success, 3.3 YPC Fournette
47% success,, 4.0 YPC Yeldon
40% success, 3.3 YPC Hyde

2017 49ers
47% success, 4.4 YPC Brieda
43% success, 3.9 YPC Hyde

Courtesy of Sharp Football. Yeah, theres a reason the consensus say Hyde is bad. Because he is. And he is a terrible fit for how KC uses RBs. If he makes the 53, they will get a bitter taste in actual games.

Dwill pre Kansas average is 3.9 YPC, as a change-of-pace back..
If he can manage to improve that, so can Hyde.

Not sure on the success rate because I don’t have the time to run those numbers myself, but in games 9-15, when both Fournette & Hyde were playing, Hyde ran a 3.9 YPC and Fournette ran a 3.3 YPC, Yeldon ran a 3.5 YPC.

As I said before, Cleveland wasn’t the same before Mayfield took over and while I’m sure Duke & Chubb were more more efficient, they were not even close to the same role as Hyde at that point.
