Didn't see the game but the box score looks solid.

Career back up, Best Case!

Not worth a roster spot in fantasy unless one owns Brees and have a very big roster.

Better value than a Kicker #2 but not by much

Could be the Saints "bridge" quarterback.

I keep imagining Bridgewater in NE as Brady's replacement.
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I have no problem with that scenario. Honestly I would just like to see Bridgewater succeed just from an 'underdog' pov for all the things he has had to battle through, and the Patriots would make for a good organization. Regardless, atm, at least he seems like he could be given a chance to be the heir to Brees. Even if Brees was to prolong his career by say 3-4 years, that could still give Teddy a window to be a franchise starter again for a 5-6 year window (and thats more than many QBs get).

We shall see though!

Bridgewater has won 5 straight since Brees' injury. Tennessee getting mentions as a potential landing spot.

For his sake he should retire before that happens.

So for weeks we have seen talk (both on the forums & in football in general) about how Kyle Allen should keep the starting job instead of Cam Newton, or Minshew would keep the job over Foles. Meanwhile there was little to no talk about whether Teddy Bridgewater should keep the starting job ...

in fact there were people who felt that Bridgewater was not even the 2nd best QB on the Saints

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=190615

Finally after 5 wins in a row we get a hint ...

https://www.courier-journal.com/story/s ... 049372002/

-----

Having said all that do I think Brees should lose his job to Bridgewater? No. I also do not think Cam Newton should lose his job to Allen (although it seems more possible).

It is just interesting (to me) that we had 2 UDFA / Low Draft pick QBs that were meant as insurance / developmental QBs skyrocket into the conversation as Franchise QBs after less than a half seasons worth of game while we have another QB who was drafted with the intent of being a Franchise QB gets no consideration & in fact has people doubting he is even worthy of being a starting QB.

Now part of it is obviously situation - Bridgewater is behind Drew Brees, who is revered on a level similar to Dan Marino, so I do not think there should have been talk after a couple of games of him being the starter going forward. But on the other hand Brees is 40, and I am pretty sure that there has been some talk of Bridgewater being the heir apparent. So perhaps that conversation is at least worth having sooner rather than later.

From watching the games I think Brees should definitely get back in there when he's ready. This doesn't mean Bridgewater can't take over next year if things change or even this year if Brees is struggling (which I don't think I've ever seen?)

I am thinking that Bridgewater may decide to stay with New Orleans and take over as early as next season - if I had to guess. Guess that might depend on the Saints cap situation - since obviously it is a lot easier / nicer for a team to build around a rookie QB - but at the same time it seems counter-intuitive to let Bridgewater go.

But yeah I do hope that Bridgewater does not get traded to / signed by say Tennessee until they've shown they have a better organization in place.

Agreed.

I think that would be the ideal scenario.

Never know, maybe Teddy sees the obvious also. He's FAR better off to keep his star hitched to Peyton's wagon than to leave for a starting gig somewhere else. If he's the heir to Brees, it'd be a near ideal situation for him. Even if it means he stays a backup for another year or more.

On a related note, wonder if Miami has ruled him out entirely. They're surely going to pick a QB with their top pick next year, but if they didn't...

Carolina and NO's defenses are also playing great football right now which is a massive help. Each also having two of the most dynamic playmakers in CMC + Kamara is also a huge help. If I'm Teddy, I'm staying with Payton lol.

I know Minshew has tailed off a little bit over the last couple of weeks but I think his play is more impressive than Allen or Bridgewater but I guess you could make a similar argument with JAX's D + Fournette being solid pieces to have around you.
