I watched. My point was he did everything he should do. Nothing was a surprise. A top pick should be throwing perfect spirals on 8 yard passes. To pass judgement on that drive is silly. He's got a long way to go to prove himself. Not saying he can't, just saying there is really not a lot to read into that. It was one drive of quick passes. He did a good job on them, but it's not like we didn't know Murray couldn't make those throws, especially when not under duress.Phaded wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:00 amFantasyFreak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 10:15 pmThey did exactly what they should. Quick hitting passes to get him some reps. 6.28 YPA. My grandmother could have made those throws. Really not going to know much about Kyler and the Cards until the regular season starts, when they open up their playbook and so do defences.
...are you really referring to YPA in the preseason?
Preseason is about how players look, not the stats. He looked poised, threw perfect spirals with perfect accuracy (even on the run) and went through his progressions.
His only incompletion came because KeeSean stepped out of bounds and came back in.

Foodie. Mild sauce goes in the trash. Well done steak goes with it.
Habaneros make the best hot sauce. Throwing a bunch of random stuff on top of fries doesn't mean you call it "poutine".

From my seat at Lambeau:
- Dexter Williams really impressed. A very slippery runner who keeps his legs churning. He looked even better compared to Tra Carson.
- Keke Coutee had a couple of good returns and looked good on routes. One bad play was when he tried to field a punt inside the 5 which resulted in a fumble recovery in the end zone for the Packers. Unfortunately, not surprised when we saw that he was the injured player on that later play.
- Webb played the whole game and ran the offense very well, though he was an obvious step down for Watson. But he probably assured his top backup role. On a side note - if the starters can run the offense at the same pace that Houston was running in the first half, they will be very potent.
- J'Mon Moore needed that TD after Kizer had trouble with accuracy early on, and Moore dropped a pass in his hands a couple plays earlier (negated by penalty)
On the officiating front - the Packers tossed the challenge on a pass interference non-call in the end zone (new rule this year). From one angle you could see the dback was definitely interfering, but they did not reverse it. I guess they didn't want to set a precedent on a close play.... Funny thing is that the Texans had a few pass interference calls after that, including the very next play. (Makeup call?)

Re: Preseason - Week 1
I can't speak for all the other Murray fans, but my takeaway was this: he played well under pressure last night, even when he was backed up in his own end zone. We know that he can throw deep bombs and rack up rushing yards, so the final piece is actually playing QB and managing the offense. One drive doesn't guarantee Murray's success, but it's reassuring that he likely won't be just a Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen type who's fantasy production will depending largely on rushing yards and TDs. If he can sustain drives with only dink and dunk passes like last night, the sky's the limit once Kingsbury unleashes his gimmicks and lets Murray run free.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:01 pmThe Arizona thing/Kyler thing. One drive that ended in a punt. That's a bit of an over reaction. Neither offences or defences (Chargers) are showing much. Murray dinked and dunked. Nothing happened.
This. NE isn't expecting Harry to be the next DeAndre Hopkins. They likely drafted him as Gordon insurance. Harry can make the contested catches like Gordon's TD last year where Brady just threw it up to him even though Gordon was double covered in the end zone. Edelman is great, but they needed a jump ball guy with Gronk retired and Gordon's status uncertain.Weknownothing86 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 6:30 amIm not worried about that, they knew he had troubles getting open tho, thats not his game, and its a definite area of weakness. His game, and what they drafted him for, is what he did last night, and he did it very well. If he can work on his game to get even slightly open he will be a really good WR. I think even post Brady. A rookie QB who isnt quite as accurate can just chuck those 50/50 balls up to him with trust. With that said he will only be a Second ballot HOFer after the real stud on the team Jakobi Meyers gets in on the first ballot.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:20 pm Harry with 2 nice grabs, but he looks like he'll be wearing coverage a lot. Really doesn't look like he can get open.

Except Meyers is arguably vying for (and currently outperforming) the same role as Harry.
