Barkley averaged 6.75 more fantasy points a game then Joe Mixon. That is significant. Barkley is head and shoulders over the rest of the field.

Plus I’m not saying it’s OBJ or Hopkins that is the other WR. Maybe it’s an Evans or JuJu type, on that fringe outside the elite studs.

Agreed 6.75 is VERY significant. I expect Barkley to continue to score more ppg than Mixon. However I wouldn’t be blown away if the gap isn’t that big going forward, and I certainly wouldn’t be too surprised if Mixon even scores more on given year. That bet to me is not worth a dynasty WR1.

A possible "buy low period" for Saquon may happen this year

Postby DJB » Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:20 pm

I dont have any concrete evidence to this but will try some context.

https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/strengt ... osition=RB

Giants have 31st toughest RB schedule this year. So Barkley is already facing a tough uphill battle.

https://www.fantasypros.com/2019/07/how ... ball-2019/

This article gives great context into how poor offences usually affect RB'S a ton in terms of fantasy scoring.

Its a pretty long article but the biggest takeaway is that if a team has a bottom 10 scoring offence, there is only a 7.1 % chance that the RB on that team is a top 6 fantasy RB.

Now you could point out that Barkley was a top fantasy RB on last year on the Giants and they were a top 16 offence, but by losing Odell and relying on Manning or a rookie to keep that team out of the bottom 10 for offence seems like a stretch.

Im aware that Barkley is a stud, I realize hes generational, but I'm just trying to point out that maybe his production dips and there might be a window where his cost dips a bit.

At this time last year I believe that Gurley was the RB1 and look how far he has fallen. (Yes I understand it's different circumstances because of his injury).

Barkley is ranked #1 in RB rankings . All it takes is for him to move down one spot and you can argue his value has decreased even if it's minimal making him an easier buy.

Take this thread for what its worth. :)

Yeah, I think people know what Barkley is, and some may waver, for sure. Saquon will have a really tough time this year, for sure. I really do fear that his talents will never be maximized in his prime with this abysmal looking franchise. Barry Sanders 2.0? Wondering what could have been if he were with Dallas at the time. 2200 yards would have actually seemed a reasonable projection with Barry at that time, on the Cowboys. What would we project if Barkley were on the Chiefs.... Barkley without OBJ and a further deteriorated QB situation will mean it's likely he regresses from last years stats. He may get more volume, though, which long term, could be an issue....negatively. Wish the Giants had taken a QB (and I have Barkley nowhere)

This is why I can make an argument that Kamara is indeed the best running back to possess long term for dynasty. He will never take the punishment guys like Barkley will. He plays for a much better organization with a good offensive coach. Yes Brees will retire eventually, but that could be 5 years form now. I expect the Saints to find someone capable enough to replace him.

In an age where paying running backs makes little sense, most of the time, Kamara is where the offense runs through. I dont see the Saints letting him go.

The reason I don't think Barkley fits those numbers is the man could even split out wide if need be I own him in all 4 of my dynasties you see below and I won't be selling even though I expect less than 4.0 yards per carry. I also expect possibly 120 catches

Lol all start ups I'm the luckiest man alive in start ups knock on wood. Acquired him in the first 2 Sigs by getting the 4th and 5th start up picks in last year's drafts. This year I was lucky enough to get the 1st pick in my team 4 sig in superflex. And for my 3rd team I made a deal of just moving a 9th round pick to move up from the 1.03 to the 1.02 (Mahomes went first).

On this topic. If he really is a buy low after this year, I will be acquiring in every league that owner buys into that narrative.
