I wasn't big on Melvin Gordon his rookie year, but drafted him at 1.02 anyway. His slow start plus my inaccurate opinion on him led me to trade him away for Demaryius Thomas later that same season.

MG3 has been one of the few annual studs while DT is a reanimated corpse. This one hurts.

One trade I'm starting to regret although It could pan out for me so I don't wanna classify it as a big mistake just yet: Last season I was making a playoff push and traded
Kerryon, Cooper Kupp ( post - injury), and George Kittle for

Deandre Hopkins and the 2019 2.06.

I was missing a top tier WR and had good RB's and TE depth so at the time it was something I needed. Just now looking at it, I may have preferred those 3 over Hopkins in the long run.

Most of these trades imho are looking back in hindsight things did not work out - but at the time of the trade, as long as you were going on the information you had at the time, I cannot fault many of them. I hope most posters use this thread to cheer themselves up seeing that everyone makes mistakes / trades that backfired, rather than justification not to take (calculated) risks.

My favorite 'bad' trade that I look back on was giving up Hopkins for Gio Bernard, Kenny Britt & a 2016 1st. However I honestly have no regrets because I kept working on my team, and that trade eventually allowed me to draft Juju Smith-Schuster (because the 2016 1st turned into a trade where I got Devante Parker and then that turned into JJSS).

So in isolation a trade can look really bad, but as long as you dont sit static and refuse to make another trade because of that trade, then nature/karma tends to balance out.

What is more important, imho, is to not make a series of 4-5 trades that cascade your team in a downward spiral. For example

Barkley for M. Gordon & 2020 2nd*
then
Gordon for Ingram & 2020 2nd
then
Ingram for Peyton Barber & 2020 2nd

because then - in this example - you've just traded Barkley for Peyton Barber & 3 2nds.

* - I know you're saying no one trades Barkley for Gordon & a 2020 2nd - but remember (a) this is the bad trade thread and (b) pretend it is a startup and you just traded 1.01 for 1.12 & a 2020 2nd and drafted Gordon at 1.12

Lol well they did ask for worst mistakes. That startup is easily on the top of my list. The good news is that I turned it into a contender in 1.5 years.

Im about to one up your Damien Williams drop.

I dropped him AFTER he went off. When I was bounced from the playoffs in week 15 I legit thought he was worth nothing and didnt expect his pace to keep up. I dropped him for ESB as a 2019 stash.

I have also had on my roster: JuJu, Deshaun Watson, Austin Hooper, Curtis Samuel, Robby Anderson. They werent bad trades but rather straight up drops. With Juju and Watson I grabbed them right after the startup draft finished their rookie seasons before they did anything. Then right after dropping both they got picked up and have since been awesome.

I traded a 1st for Foreman, 2 weeks later be ruptures his achilles. The 1st became Nick Chubb.

Traded Baker Mayfield + 2019 2nd + Tarik Cohen for Cam Newton right before his shoulder fell off. Cost me a title.

Before the 2019 season started so many analysts were pumping the brakes on Mahomes and were saying he was going to throw a record amount of INTs. I panicked. Send Mahomes + 2 early 2nds for Stafford and a 1st. The early 2nds became James Washington and Calvin Ridley and I used the 1st on my boy DJ Moore. So at one point I had Patrick Mahomes AND Baker Mayfield on my roster as well.

Early last off season I had Njoku and HH as my TEs. Someone made me a good offer for Njoku. The next day HH tears his ACL. No joke, next day. The guy felt so bad he offered to undo it but ultimately we didnt. This turn of events led me to my next trade:

Traded a 2019 3rd + 2020 2nd for Delanie Walker right before he got injured.
