I have no problem projecting Penny and KJ being equal come next offseason, or Penny being ahead, but the current state of things requires something on top of KJ, even if you're only getting a 2020 2nd or something. You can still get what you want while also increasing your return, if you're set on making the exchange.

Right now this is KJ . Carson was excellent and won't just go away barring injury. Meanwhile KJ is the lead back and a very good talent on a team that projects to emphasize the run game. Yes he could get injured but so too could Penny.
I'd say it's penny + 1st at this time for KJ.

Now if Penny was the lead back on Seattle my opinion would be different, but Carson is a really good running back and so while I do envisage a profitable time share for both, I think KJ will be more useful for your team right now and going forward, CJ Anderson doesn't present the long term threat Carson does.

Given the short life span of RBs, volatility of the position and likelihood the days of the Bell cow backs are limited, I tend to not look too far into the future wrt RBs and take the points that project to be available now, not in 12 months. But that maybe a flawed approach

Obviously I should add, if the OP is happy one should always go with their gut.

I like Penny better and would take Penny straight up over KJ. So I don't think OP is crazy. That said, as mentioned you can probably get more. Both KJ and Penny showed flashes in limited work. Penny is in a murkier situation with Carson but has a higher upside, imo. I feel like given the draft capital, if Penny does his part and puts in the effort, things will sort itself out in terms of the Carson situation.

I have Penny. Because I can be patient with him, I would not sell him for KJ. Only because I would not start KJ this year either. For this season alone, I would think Penny and a 1st is fair. I guess I am going off of Sea spent a first on him and they know more than me...so I have to be patient...just hope I am right ( like all of my fantasy football moves)
