- Undrafted rookie free agent can now be signed for a maximum of 3 years
- Owners are now required to submit years and contract type with the free agent bid (bidder must also calculate the total guaranteed money). The winning bidder will be the owner who offers the player the most total guaranteed money.
For example...
Owner A bids 1 year for 75k with no bonus... that's zero guaranteed
Owner B bids 1 year for 60k with bonus... that's $12,000 guaranteed
Owner C bids 3 years for 30k with bonus... that's $18,000 guaranteed
Owner D bids 2 year for 50k with bonus... that's $20,000 guaranteed
Owner E bids 3 years for 40k with bonus... that's $24,000 guaranteed
So owner E would win the player. Bonus contracts continue to save 20% against the cap.
