Just a pet peeve of mine, but it’s amusing to me when I’m told my roster can’t compete year-in and year-out on these boards. And it’s usually by someone whose roster has elite starters at every position.

I feel like owners who make those comments are in leagues with disinterested or poor FF players.

I’m proud to say our league has 12 active owners who know what they are doing and that has led to relatively few dominant teams over the years.

I'm just messing around. I feel your pain, I always hate seeing a trade post or someone commenting on player evaluations and ideas when their signature team looks like this:

QB - Mahomes / Baker / Luck
RB - Barkley / Kamara / Chubb / Connor / Mack / Jacobs
WR - Hopkins / Julio / OBJ / Evans / Hilton / Godwin
TE - Kittle / Howard / Njoku
Picks - 1.01 / 1.06 / 1.10

Yeah that one I don't get. Saying a pick is likely late is more likely to be true. Any team can string together a few wins which feeds into OPs point.

Going into the season I was told my team 1 wouldn't compete and people were fair in saying it... My starters were young and unproven and I had 0 RB

QB: Luck and Mahomes
RB: Penny, RoJo as D Freeman went down
WR: Julio, Cooks, Davis
Flex: DJ Moore
TE: Njoku as Henry went down

Made some trades (Sony and Tyreek) and obviously Mahomes outperformed.

Don't take "you can't compete" personally. It's more of a friendly reminder to be realistic with expectations

You also have no idea in general what someone else's league looks like. At the beginning of last season I was told my roster looked "a few years away but would probably make the playoffs". The league had 2 monster teams in my way but they gratefully stepped aside in the playoffs. A lot of variables and it's a long season.

I've been playing this game 28 years, and my teams are Always Competitive!!

In fact, the two teams in my sig won titles in 2018 - maybe not with the players you would expect, or that I hoped for, but dang!

OP isn't wrong. In a 12-team league with actual parity, his roster can make the playoffs. And yes, there are lots of signatures here with rosters stacked like pancakes that really are only possible to assemble by preying upon other bad/disinterested owners. In a balanced league where managers don't just give away their blue-chips to the sharks, there's only so much capital available to work with; not enough to acquire already proven superstars at every position.

Team in my signature made the championship game last year and lost by less than a point. By far not a star studded squad. I ever did a partial sell off mid season as I didn't see myself as a contender...lots of luck involved

There's certainly a lot of soap-boxing here. But the fact is, when you are on a public forum, you are opening yourself up to criticism. Even more so when one of the main forums is an advice section. Suck it up and let your record do the real talking.

So you're saying a team's record determines the quality of a team? I adamantly disagree. I've seen trash teams win 9 or 10 games and great teams win 5 because they got lucky/unlucky.
