2019 ROOKIE Defensive Line rankings

1. Nick Bosa (he’s already my DL9 in dynasty) - I’ve heard some say he’s a better pure prospect than his big brother. Even if he never hits that ceiling, he looks to be a consistent DL1 for the next few years, maybe like a Carlos Dunlap or Cameron Jordan.

2. Josh Allen - his floor is what we have seen from Leonard Floyd, but his ceiling is Demarcus Lawrence (EDIT: I’m hearing scuttlebutt that Jax may be switching to a 3-4?? This is news to me. Who knows...)

3. Clelin Ferrell - I’ve bumped Ferrell ahead of Burns, mostly because of some concerns I have with Burns. I see Clelin Ferrell as a very SAFE prospect. He probably won’t be Cameron Jordan, but he might be what we have gotten from Trey Flowers.

4. Quinnen Williams - Big time disrupter. Perhaps a smaller Deforest Buckner?

5. Brian Burns - His big knock coming out was his weight. He played at a smaller size than Kelvin Benjamin, for instance. Granted, he’s a very good athlete, but guys that rely all on speed can get pushed around easily (Vic Beasley, other than his one magical statistical year). I don’t love his college tape. I’m worried he doesn’t have the polish to be a full time edge player. (EDIT: Hearing 3-4 talk with Carolina as well. Welp, looks like I need to be listening to more rumors...)

6. Christian Wilkins - I comp him to Jurrell Casey. Not super sexy, but a very good player that might have ceiling years of double digit sacks.

7. Ed Oliver - High floor, and theoretically a high ceiling, but his pass rush has yet to develop. A more powerful yet not quite as polished version of Jonathan Allen.

8. LJ Collier - Not a fan. Almost as much of a reach as the Hawks’ 2018 first round gamble, Rashad Penny. They’re hoping he can play the Michael Bennett “Big End” role, but he’s just not very good. Maybe he is Vinny Curry?

9. Chase Winovich - Drafted quite a bit later than all these other dudes, but he’s got a very high floor. His white comp has always been Clay Matthews, & that’s a good one. Definitely has opportunity to get snaps right away in NE’s barren Edge group.

10. Jerry Tillery - Some have comp’d him to Buckner, due to the size, but that’s pretty darn lofty. Still tho, he’s got a great shot to put up some nice stats inside that Chargers’ 4-3 D, with Bosa & Ingram beside him.

Jeffery Simmons is a fantastic stash.

Rashan Gary might be an OLB in Green Bay, might be a DE (in terms of MFL classification). Either way, he’s raw. Just a stash IMO.

Keep an eye on Trysten Hill, if playing in any sort of DT-premium league. He’s got a lot of oppurtunity in Dallas.

So far MFL has him as a LB which is making it hard to judge. I'm about to hit the second round of my draft so I might have to see what my defensive options are.

He was projected to be a better fit as a 3-4 OLB rather than a hand-in-dirt DE in a 4-3, which is why he’s currently listed almost everywhere as a LB. But I do not expect him to play off the ball. He did play off the ball a bit in college, but that’s not why Jax took him 7 overall, at least not in my opinion.

Some risk tho.

Yes, similar to Geno Atkins or Fletcher Cox only younger.

My stash pick for the year (also a noted homer pick) is Jaylon Ferguson and I will be grabbing him late in as many drafts as I can this year.

I hope so because I just drafted him 2.11(28th overall) in my draft. Seems like he was falling in our draft since everyone was worried about the LB tag. So I felt it was a high risk high reward pick since I can use some youth and help at DE.

He went 1.07 in my sack heavy league. Can you name 7 better prospects? Plus this is a 2 QB league. He went before Jones and Lock, rightfully so.
