Myles Sanders vs David Montgomery

So one of my rookie drafts started yesterday. I have/had pick 1.3. My assumption was that 1.1 would be Josh Jacobs and 2.1 would be David Montgomery. This was based off the rankings and the rumblings I heard from owners. So I penciled in K.Harry as my pick. Well, 1.1 took Harry. A little bit of a shocker. So 1.2 takes Jacobs. So I thought I would be taking Sanders here. But the guy who has 1.2 and also was rumored to be taking Montgomery has pick 1.4. So I slept on it. Did some looking into both this morning. Just submitted my draft ticket and it's DAVID MONTGOMERY!

All the dudes on here that have Sanders > Montgomery are wrong. You heard it hear first.

I have Sanders slightly ahed of Montgomery due to a couple reasons:

1) Tarik Cohen in Chi taking away some PPR value from Montomery
2) Higher draft capital
3) More of a clear path for a 3 down back (see #1). I don't view Jordan Howard as anything beyond a backup for one year.
4) Wear and tear through college, Sanders has a lot more tread on the tires

On a side note, if you were this indifferent towards the two, I would have tried to see if you could trade down from 1.3 to 1.4 and pick up something small.

I could see Montgomery easily doing better in 2019 based on situation. However if we're talking long run, it's Sanders by a mile.

Good pick, both are great choices. I thought Sanders looked great at the combine, but that is a crowded RBBC. I would have taken Montgomery here, too. I am in Chicago, and think both Montgomery and Cohen will get theirs, a nice balance. They will thrive off of each other.

Sanders and its not really close. Montgomery is a good back, does nothing spectacular. He's basically a slightly juiced up version of Jordan Howard.
Sanders has the size, athleticism, and ability to be a top 5 RB in this league and he has the opportunity. When the Eagles say, "we've been looking for a guy like Sanders for a while" that should tell you something.

I own the 1.3,1.4, 1.6,1.11 & 1.12....pre draft I was adamant about getting a bunch of WRs in my rebuild.

Now after seeing these attractive landing spots for Montgomery and Sanders I’m thinking of taking both at 1.3 and 1.4 and get the WRs later in the first as they fall.

The question I ask are they good enough to grab both to secure a strong Rb core for the future or is this just rookie fever and people are enamored right now. Are these the type of guys that if you miss on them (and you the have the opportunity get both) would you regret it later?

Sanders looks way more fluid than Montgomery.

Not close IMO. Sanders is a legit 3 down player in an ideal system for him. Montgomery is stiff and not in a great system. He is a decent back but RB2 best case imo. Sanders has Westbrook or MCCoy type qualities.

On a side note, not much of a fan of Harry. Not in my top 5. Poor separation skills in college doesn’t translate well for fantasy. Good red zone threat though in non ppr leagues.
