I like him, personally. Allen isn't a hand in the ground guy, and Oliver didn't really do much against top competition. This kid was big in big games, played against tough teams, and is a very well rounder player. He's also an extremely high character player, and considered a leader on that D.

The real speculation that is out there is that the Raiders passed on Allen & Oliver because they share the same agent as Khalil Mack.

Thought it was a surprise and player they could have moved back for but in the first round you go get your guy in the NFL. I liked Oliver better over all but the Raiders need a 4 3 DE really badly. He is a A+ character and plays in a played in a pro system defense in college obviously.

Concern is Turf Toe kept him from measurable stats at combine and pro day. This injury scares me as it doesn't go away easy and easily returns for some. That said, he could be D. Lawrence in a couple of years due to a great first step.

Bold pick but the more I think about it the more I like it. This team needs High Character guys that will buy into the system. At #4 this player will certainly buy in; As the leader of Clemson defense he already has a track record of leadership on a great team.

Yea but not really buying it. The salary cap sets the contract price for 4 years with a 5th year option. They could hate the agent but that is long time off. Think they just liked Ferrell better as a fit and these guys are all about system buy in.

My biggest problem with the pick is that it was a massive reach. We could have traded down and picked up another much needed pick. There was also a chance he would be there in the 20s.

Don't get me wrong, I like the player - but I just think at the spot we took him, there were much better picks.

The Raiders have a history of reaching in the first round.. and a history of it not working out.

Funny but in hind sight that turned out to be a great NFL pick considering where they picked him some 19 years ago.
Of course, Brady went in the 6th that year but those 2 players have lasted forever.
