Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
It seems only about half of the 2019 WR rookies are getting much attention here: DK3Cone, Marq166 Brown, Andy Isabella, and Nkeal Harry have had serious discussions here. Lots of mention of AJ Brown, but usually in threads about the guys listed above. However, I've seen little discussion about
PARRIS CAMPBELL!
The dude is the 3rd rated WR on NFL.com's Draft & Combine Profile rankings: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/parris-ca ... e460708ae9
He ran 4.31. Mostly a speed guy? A one trick pony? Or could he be more?

Re: Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
IDK, I think he could be a Percy Harvin type guy. If he stays healthy, I think he could be. My concern is that he's a 5th year senior, who didn't do much until his senior year., and most of his targets were very close to the LOS. That offense as a whole just ran those types of plays with superior athletes. Screens, hooks, short crossing routes. For such an explosive athlete, his YPR were extremely, low, which tells you a lot about the types of routes he ran.
He's an athletic freak, but again, 5th year he breaks out, and still has an extremely low YPR. I'm not paying a premium for him, but if he slips to the late first, early 2nd, sure. Problem is, big school guys often get overdrafted. Isabella produced at a much younger age, and is also faster, and produced ridiculous numbers, and his YPR actually reflected his explosive tendencies, so I would not dispute taking him over Parris.

I think he is an upside pick and would be willing to take a gamble on him late 1st/early second but I view him on the same tier as Isabella and I can get him later in the draft.

He's ranked #11 on my board. He's very athletic and I think that is why everyone has him moving up boards. My biggest concern is he played against a lot of zone and soft coverages at Ohio State. Can he got off press coverage is a big concern of mine. The team that drafts him will have to be patient.
In too many leagues to list players. Check out my Dynasty Deep Dive!

Potential 1st round NFL pick. He plays WR like a RB in my view. Kind of cross between G. Tate and Kamara which is a weird comp I know. P. Harvin would be another type comp although Campbell isn't as good on longer routes but better at short routes and bubble type screens.
Soft hands and great vision. He could be an Edleman type with blazing speed. If he goes to a creative offense he could be fantasy gold. Great suddenness. Even though he has soft hands his hand positioning isn't great at the catch point.
Next Gen Slot WR type. He is a little mechanical on longer routes and doesn't change speed much in routes but then again neither did Odell.
Very high ceiling but his floor is a concern. I have a 1st round grade on this player. He has WR1 potential.

Re: Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
I think it'll depend on where he is drafted, which I know becomes a crutch answer around here, but I really think his value is tied to what is invested in him. He needs to have touches manufactured for him. If a team values that highly then he can be a really nice piece for the offense. He played in space and could be a little gadgety at the next level. I would take a chance on him in the early second, but I don't think his odds of being fantasy impactful are very high. I could see very erratic scoring and usage as the most likely scenario.

...since when has Parris Campbell been hidden?
Re: Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
Very poised after the catch with good vision and speed. Could be a gem if he stays healthy.

Whoever gets Campbell needs to manufacture touches for him while they teach him how to play WR. Feels like too many of his touches are near the line of scrimmage.

Watching him reminds me of watching pre-draft McKinnon. I just want to see some real touches.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 5:49 pm Whoever gets Campbell needs to manufacture touches for him while they teach him how to play WR. Re: Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
Absolutely. He just needs to learn how to play the positon (which is never a given). Really depends on the plan a team has for him to polish him as a WR.
Re: Parris Campbell - another hidden gem?
Could apply this to every prospect.
