Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
Maybe if it's the 10th pick or later. I don't know that he's going to magically get more touches this year. I think his role suited him pretty well last season. He's not a workhorse RB

I’m still not giving a 1st for Drake, I’ve never been a big fan of his. My thoughts from last year, you don’t bring in a 40 year old rb and draft a rookie if your confident in the guy you have. I think they give ballage every Chance to win the job

For those responding, note that the original post is from October 2018. This isn’t current. The title is misleading for the refresh.

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
I want a early 1st for him , Dudes points per touch are up there with Gurley and Barkley.. He scored 206 points on only 170 touches , With Gore gone and a new coach he should get more carries , Personally I'm only hoping for around 200 carries 60 catches I think he can easily be a top 10 RB.osubuckeyeman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 8:57 amHow about 20i9 in a new offense? I think its steep. You need the RB help but perhaps drafting the best RB available with the pick you will be trading yields longer production.

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
A lot of guys excel in limited touches. Think CJ Spiller in Buffalo, Lamar Miller in Miami, etc. He is not, and never will be, a workhorse RB in the NFL. 170 touches is the most he can ever hope for IMO.AresGodOWar wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 10:59 amI want a early 1st for him , Dudes points per touch are up there with Gurley and Barkley.. Chubb is built like a 3-down back (6' and 225-235 lbs), as are Gurley and Barkley. Drake is a full 20 lbs less than Chubb and Barkley, and about 15 less than Gurley. It's comparing an apple to a bunch of oranges.

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
I know what you mean by limited touches numbers look better than they should , But he had 170 touches not 100 or less like guys that break a couple long runs that make them look good , I mean he was the #16 RB.. He was a 3 down back at the end of 2017 and played it very good was a top 10 RB when used right , Gase just had a hard on for old bum Gore last year he is a horrible coach that shouldn't have a job.snaps06 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:08 pmA lot of guys excel in limited touches. Drake isn't small he can easily handle over 200 carries and 50+ catches 6'1 215 lbs , MGordon 6'1 207 lbs , CMC is 5'11 205 lbs

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
For as many things as Gase May have done wrong, Frank Gore doesn’t deserve the hate you just passed on him. He ran hard and well. Just because he’s old and not sexy for dynasty doesn’t mean he wasn’t a solid RB. Drake isn’t a workhorse.
Miami also won more games than their talent suggested they should under Gase. I was never impressed with the roster or Gase himself, but that is a reality.
Will Drake do more with a new coach? He could. He could also be Lamar Miller, whom had people saying the exact same thing while he was there and then has done nothing but plateau and become volume based as a result of the increased role.

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
I traded 2019 (2.1) on an orphan team I just acquired for Kenyan Drake this morning if that helps here are the backs on that squad at the current. Jay Ajay, LeGarrette Blount, Marshawn Lynch, Royce Freeman, Carlos Hyde, Kalen Ballage and Chris Thompson. I think for the sake of argument a little bit of what your roster looks like will play a role. Did I overpay? Maybe but considering the need may be not. He caught 53 balls for 477 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns to go along with over 500 yards rushing and 4 rushing touchdowns. Always a risk with a new offense but could work the other way too. No Gase and he might exceed expectations. He is ranked as DLF running back 31 but I figure his numbers go up a little in the situation or that is the hope. He could get to the 25th back? Not sure you can get the other players listed in that area with a late first early 2nd. James White, Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, Chris Carson, and Lamar Miller all within 6 spots either direction of Drake. I also hold the 2.2 which softened the blow. I would have loved to get him for less but the 3rd rounder was not going to get it done. The flip side to the risk is if they draft another back in the first 2 rounds in the 2019 NFL draft. (this is now my worry). The Dolphins have a ton of other needs though. Again part of the risk of dealing like this prior to the NFL draft. I find getting deals done is easier this time of year. It's a tic for tac risk-reward move.
Based off what I reviewed before making the offer/hitting accept this is what I was thinking. Kenyan Drake to me is worth a late first early 2nd in the 2019 draft. The deal got done.

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
Couple days ago I offered Watkins for Miller and it was denied (I would have took Miller over Watkins) , I was countered with C.Davis , Miller for Watkins , Drake and turned it down (Means I like Drake more than C.Davis)

Re: Would you pay a 2019 first for Kenyan Drake?
Miami has a lot of missing pieces to put in place on that offense. Until it all comes together, it would be hard to judge anyone's value at this stage. I think it's a petty big gamble.
