Gus Edwards Discussion Thread
He seemed to get work. Anything to see here, especially considering how Collins came out of nowhere last season on the Ravens? I literally have never heard of him, so I was hoping someone knows more about him.

He's Danger-Gus...
Re: Gus Edwards
He got a decent amount of work in the preseason, looked all right from what I remember.
What was the context around him getting carries yesterday? Was he out there to just give Collins breathers?

Re: Gus Edwards
Pretty much I think - and likely got more carries due to the nature of the game. One of his first touches (that I remember seeing anyway) was a run play on third and long (3 and 12 maybe?) and he looked fast and powerful, and nearly picked up the first down. His scouting report was pretty brutal, so more likely a flash in the pan, but stranger things have happened

Re: Gus Edwards
Watched the whole game and was surprised to see him in because he was just signed this week. Had a few good carries but it was mostly due to good blocking. I think the one carry he just held both hands on the ball and fell forward for 5 yards lol
He was COP for Collins. Usually we see Buck but I think since they were up and resorting to the ground and pound style, they wanted to keep a more powerful back in? Just speculating but he doesnt look special

^This. 14 pts was an insurmountable obstacle for the Tennessee offense yesterday. It was over by halftime.Pet_Smith wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 7:04 amPretty much I think - and likely got more carries due to the nature of the game. My guy De'Lance Turner pulled a hammy and they placed him on IR. This is what preceded Edwards' call up. They like to rely on a committee.

Gus Edwards
What happens to him?
Does he keep his current role in the Ravens, Does he disappear into obscurity, or do they get other people in so he still has a role but in a full committee system?

Re: Gus Edwards
History seems to repeat itself in Baltimore. The Alex Collins hype train started much the same way.
I'd be shocked if he remained the lead back in 2019 throughout the season. He's a zero in the receiving game.

Re: Gus Edwards
I like what he brought this season, but yeah, I wouldn't count on him getting carries like he has. It's a risk. I'd be tempted to sell if I had a decent offer.
I'm also not certain the Ravens return with the same offense as not many QBs can survive that much running.

Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
