Obtaining Chubb

Postby Ginge11 » Fri Feb 01, 2019 5:00 pm

Guy in my league has been very reluctant to move Chubb. Offered him Julio straight up and he rejected. Was thinking of adding Aaron Jones to see if that changes anything. Don’t want to overpay, especially when I don’t really need another back. Just a big Chubb fan and believe he will be even harder to obtain next year.

Julio/A Jones too much to offer?

i offered thielen, lindsay and 1.02 and was rejected
but you never win a trade you don't offer, so it is worth a shot...

Julio should have another 2-3 years of elite production and Jones looked great this season. That should be enough but I doubt it will be.

I don’t think Julio/jones is that much of an overpay. Chubb carries a lot of value right now.

For reference I recently bought Chubb. We do a draft lottery for non playoff teams and this was before our lottery so it’s a little complicated but essentially it ended up being 1.2,1.4,1.11,1.12 and chase Edmonds for Chubb and a swap of my 1.10 for his 1.9. Definitely paid a lot but it got the job done.

So at one point you had the 1,2,3,4,7,9 11 and 12?

And Julio and Jones is a good price for Chubb. I would probably keep him, but its a good offer.

Yes lol except I had pick 10 not 9. I tore down a lot of my depth this year when I realized it wasn’t going to happen.

Great advice! As long as you feel you are making an offer and can afford to make the offer - then go ahead and make the offer. You never know what will come out of it - good or bad. :)

I think YOU are the one on the strong stuff, always hating and he can catch passes, he just rarely was given the opportunity since Duke Johnson is there and that hurts his ceiling. He still has a strong floor and while Julio is still an elite WR, he is limited most likely in how long he will be at that level. Chubb could be around for another 6-8 years. Aaron Jones might be in a timeshare with Williams and has had off and on the field issues. LaFleur is likely not going to be as stupid as his predecessors and see that Jones is the most talented back, but Green Bay doesn't always stick with the run.

A.Jones was just as good as Chubb last year in games he started the difference is Jones ate up top 15 Ds and Chubb got shut down in ypc.. Yeah that's what I mean Duke is there and going to be for at least another 2 years. And yeah Julio is old but I think he has another 3 years of WR1 production left in him.

There is NO WAY in the world I am paying anything close to that until I
1. See him run good against good Ds ,
2. Duke leaves ,
3. Does it more than 2 games. , For what people are paying I'm not even counting games under 20 points or that game against Oaks bleep D he broke a long TD against.

I feel like Chubb only played against top 15 Defenses twice after he the starting job, maybe a few more times. Why people are so interested in him is because as the season progressed he actually got more and more involved in the passing game, he was on pace for well over 300+ carries and he was at the top of PFF's grade overall but also had the most elusive rating and most forced missed tackles, that kind of usage and quality play from a guy that didn't get the starting job until week 8 is a pretty good indicator for a massive fantasy breakout in 2019. I'd be pretty shocked if he isn't a top 5-10 RB next year if he plays all 16 games. I think people see that and are excited about it. Jones is good but there's still a decent amount of ??? about him, size and health is the main concern along with workload, we've need seen him be the "featured" back for more than a 5-6 game stretch and I know draft position isn't the end all be all but the 2.01 for a RB is a lot higher and more likely teams are committed to that than a guy drafted in the back of the 5th round like Jones. Julio is getting up there in age and even with another 3 years of solid WR1 production he value will continue to decline each and every season whereas chubb has the "ceiling" to vault into top 5 dynasty RB territory which means yes you have to pay up to acquire an asset like that with upside.

Week 7 was his first game as a starter so he played 10 total games..
Of course he is going to have the most forced missed tackles he played Oak , TB , KC , Cinn 2x , Atl , Den , 7 of his games lol..
In 10 games he had 180 carries for a pace of about 288 carries for the year..
He didn't get more involved in the passing game he had 7 targets the last 3 games , that's a 38 target year..

My final thoughts are he is a top 10 RB but that's because there aren't many workhorse RBs , I think he is around a 17 ppg RB not a 20+ ppg RB the price people are paying for him , I mean you can get a Conner , Mixon or Gordon for cheaper than people are paying for Chubb..

I think he ends up with around 300 carries , 1300 rushing , 30 catches , 250 receiving , 10 TDs.. Just my own projections.

Denver actually had an extremely good run defense beyond their two dud games against the jets and whatever other team it was that ran train on them but I get your point that his buying price might be a little steep right now, I'd probably take Chubb over Conner and depending on if I'm competing in 2019 or am i na rebuild for Gordon but I think most would say Mixon is more highly coveted than Chubb.

I guess my point being is the projection you listed out for him in 2019 is what many people see as a very realistic floor for him and if that's all he ever amounts to then it would be a slight loss for this trade (unless A. Jones becomes a stud but that's another argument) but you also have to remember that football players and situations are static, there's a very real possibility that he continues to improve in the passing game and becomes a 50 receptions and 3 down workhorse type of back, there's also the possibility that he becomes a Zeke Elliot type of rusher on the ground and gets around 1400-1600 and I think because of that realistic possible ceiling you would have to pay a premium to get a 22 year old back like that. If he does reach that ceiling then he'd enter the tier of RB's with guys like Kamara and Zeke around RB5 and I think anyone would tell you Jones and Jones for Kamara or Zeke is a STEAL. If Chubb isn't your guy then its fair to want to avoid paying up for his upside and there are plenty of justifiable reasons to take that stance but there is also plenty of indicators and justifiable reasons to believe he has that upside to reach those heights and if you are on that stance then this trade seems fair

Re: Obtaining Chubb

I wouldn't pay anything like they for chubb but he seems to be the "IT" guy everyone is honing in on this offseason. I'd rather pay less for a guy like Michel, Mack, Conner etc.. if I'm going to overpay (I'd rather really overpay) like that for Zeke, Cmc or someone who's produced a couple times over.
