Josh Jacobs: Moving On Up

Postby schiewerma21 » Tue Jan 29, 2019 8:36 pm

This board is always months behind but figured I would start a Josh Jacobs thread. He is this classes rb1 and will be a true contender for 1.01 in rookie drafts. For rb needy teams I suspect he will be.

Get to know the name if you don’t. Mainstream is slowly catching on.

Nah, he's already on everybody's radar. He's my 1.01 if he tests well and goes to a decent situation. I have 1.01 and 1.02 in a SF Bestball TE premium, I'm going Jacobs unless something changes, but if he's a first round back, he's my 1.01. He has a 3 down skill set, is good in all facets of the game, and is super young.

^Pretty much this. I'm praying two receivers go before him and he falls to me at 3.

Guys like Jacobs and Metcalf are really going to test a lot of the, Analytics vs. Tape debate. You have two guys who are being mocked and projected as the best at their position but honestly lack any production to truly warrant it...

Metcalf's lack of production will be blamed on injuries but it will be pretty incredible for Metcalf, AJ, Lodge, Greg Little...and maybe even Jordan Ta'amu to be drafted and that Ole Miss offense was not light years better.

I haven't followed Jacobs but it appears he was Alabama's 3rd string RB for most of the year behind Harris + Harris. And who knows what the reasoning for it was? Could make the argument that Alabama is Alabama and they never have any shortage of RBs...etc, etc.

Will be fun to watch this unfold because I guarantee you the analytics guys have been trying to dive as deep as they can into these prospects....because....there isn't that much data to begin with.

I will plant my flag the other direction. I think Josh Jacobs will have the best NFL career of any Alabama RB in the Nick Saban era.

Partly because it is early in the process and I want to look like I was ahead of the curve.... Honestly, I think he has all the intangibles and has great size, speed and agility. Landing spot obviously matters, but in a vacuum I think he is a future locked in stud

Receiving skill set, for starters. He's versatile for pretty much any scheme, runs a lot of different plays well. Has great change of direction, burst and blocks well, too. Much stronger lower body IMO, to Holyfield.

This is Waldman's analysis, it's worth a watch.

Holyfield looks like an average two down back.
