Michel ($15) or Guice ($7)

Postby ajf235 » Sat Oct 13, 2018 10:47 pm

Who scores more fantasy points in half ppr from 2019-2020 (forget this year)? Who’s a better value on a $200 budget?

Guice at half price imo.

Michel should be good but twice as good?

Agreed the value on Guice is better but do you think Sony Michel will be a better fantasy RB in 2019-2020 at this point? $8 isn’t that much if you think he will be better

That's true. I think Sony will put up better numbers than Guice if he is still in BB's good graces. Tough to say what we will get from Guice but people here are high on him

Give me Michel. Both contracts are relatively cheap so I don't think you should put too much weight in the difference of $8. It would be different if Michel was in the 30-40 range like I'd assume the top backs are.

I like Guice a lot but players coming off knee issues is always a slight concern. Not long term but perhaps to start the year off pretty slow. See Cook and see KA last season for the first half. Michel is on a such a great offense its hard to imagine him going anywhere but up once he starts being allowed to take some of White's receiving duty.

The reason I'm not so concerned about Guice's knee is because he's a power back. I LOVED Cook coming out of college and sold him in my league this year before the season started because he's a speed back that isn't that fast and I figured if he lost a step he could be screwed since his base speed wasn't that high (unlike Jamaal Charles or AP who ran 4.3-4.4 40s and had speed to lose when coming off knee surgery). Also, Guice and Michel have both torn their ACLs before and the Pats offense isn't a lock to be top 10 next year or 2020 given Brady's age. Thoughts?

Disagree on Cook and do not think clean ACL tears really effect speed or burst once fully recovered. We are talking about the most athletically gifted people with the best medical and rehab care money can buy. KA ran a 4.6 or something like that so he was not a "fast" guy and he is just the same if not better than he was before his ACL tear. Also the 40 yard dash times are honestly pretty pointless to look at. A lot of technique and other factors go into the 40 and does not necessarily indicate a players true speed. Everyone expected Cook to run close to a 4.3 and ended up with a 4.49 so everyone made a bigger deal out of it even though a 4.49 is still extremely fast for a RB. Kamara ran a 4.56 at the combine which is "slow" yet he is clearly one of the fastest people on the field when the ball is in his hands.

With that all that being said this is about Guice and Michel lol. With or Without Brady the Patriots will have a top 15 Offense as long as BB and McDaniels are the coaches. While I realize that Guice would have probably produced well if he did not get hurt the fact is he hasn't played NFL football yet. Michel has and is putting up RB1 stats. For that reason alone I'd rather have Michel. I think both of their futures are bright but they were similarly talented prospects coming into the draft, one is hurt and not playing, one is playing and doing amazing.
