Rashad Penny Trade Advice

Postby flyersfan1981 » Sat Sep 22, 2018 4:11 pm

Let me start by saying the team I own him on is so bad that I am embarrassed to list it here in the post or in my signature. I took over a team two years ago and everyone got hurt my first year and then I learned that studs truly rule in this format because the rosters are large and the starting requirements are small. So trading is tough because you have to overpay for a stud since depth has little value.

So another owner keeps bombing me with Penny offers. My top 3 players are Luck, Agholor, and Penny...I have a bunch of devys that could be something and a ton of devy picks/rookie 1sts since I blew it up. I know Penny has been bad and his O-line is the only thing more embarrassing than my roster, but what is a good price for him?

I keep getting offered Lamar Miller/Phillip Lindsay for him. I love the story for Lindsay and it isn't impossible for him to have a strong role moving forward, but I feel I need to see more. I was offered Lamar Miller/DT. Nothing seems to be logical for me. Is Lindsay and DK Metcalf enough of a return to consider moving him? I have a bunch of devy RBS, but no WRs and it is PPR so I really would like to add a marquee devy WR.

Ugh...I wish I never took this team on, lol...thoughts???

I'd need to see your team to give any feedback.
But I can tell you if your team is as bad as you say it is, Lamar Miller and DT don't do bleep for you. Those are not easy assets to move in trade which is what you would have to do.
PSA - Haggling is NOT the same as negotiating.

Do NOT trade Penny for Miller/Lindsay. That’s someone trying to sell you two shiny turds. Is that the best you’ve been offered?

I recently bought Penny with Connor.

Right now isn’t the time to sell but nothing you have received is intriguing me at all. Sit tight and trust the process devy leagues are fun but you have to be patient

Unless you're getting an early 1st valuation in return, doesn't make a lot of sense to move him.

So your team made me puke...just a little. But you have a ton of picks and devy picks coming up. So if he wants Penny it’s pretty easy to me. You either want a over pay in devy / rookie picks / high end young talent or you pass.

Keep Penny. You've already stated how important studs are in your format, and while Penny certainly hasn't done anything yet, he is the only player in any of your discussions that has any chance of becoming a stud long-term. Your team is bad and trading high upside young players for older players with little upside makes zero sense for you. Just be patient and hopefully Penny delivers on his potential and draft stock, and becomes a long-term starter for you to build around.

Miller/Lindsay and Miller/DT shouldn't interest you at all. Bad in a vacuum, even worse for your rebuilding team.

The Metcalf offer is interesting, but there's still so many questions on whether he will end up a top prospect in the draft, much less whether he will hit or not from there.

I would hold Penny over all of these offers. What's the roster look like from the guy who is after him?
