Re: Buy, Sell, or Hold: Will Fuller?

Postby Johnny Canuck » Fri Aug 17, 2018 8:10 am

I remember when no one wanted Adams as well...Fuller is an up and coming WR entering his 3rd yr with a talented QB and a coaching staff that loves him (many ppl don’t know but BoB tried extremely hard to recruit Fuller back in NCAA). He’s a strong hold or buy. It’s been said that he’ll be a “big part of the Texans offense” this season, could be coach speak but if its not...the buying window will be closed.

NTM you get a buffer baked into his current cost, and aren’t paying for his ceiling like some other young WRs...cough Corey Davis cough

If he breaks out this yr he would likely ascend to be a Brandin Cooks, young Djax archetype.

All speculation obvs, but after seeing what he did in 4 games with Watson, don’t you wanna see what they could do in an entire season if both are healthy...

Will Fuller

Postby Froggystyle » Sat Sep 22, 2018 4:16 pm

If Will Fuller continues to get volume similar to week 2 (9 tgts), what would he project? Low WR1 or high WR2? It seems like he had his 2nd year break out last year and is just continuing to trend up with more targets. Why isn’t he getting the hype of Golladay, Davis, or Williams when they have done far less?

All those guys are big and the dynasty fantasy community is often sizist with WRs.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

He’s probably the most criminally undervalued receiver over the last few years.

The one thing that made me laugh is the fantasy communities love affair with DeShaun Watson. Was Hopkins going to get 3000 yards receiving?

Never was a fan but I’m a believer now. When he is on the field with Watson he is a must start.

I can see him being a WR2 this year but he will be inconsistent

criminally undervalued?? Dude's been hurt his entire career. Stay on the field and then be judged.

He missed 1 game his rookie year. He did miss 6 games last year and obviously week 1 this year but I wouldn’t say he hasn’t seen the field.

He was undervalued in rookie drafts before his career even began. I recall grabbing him in the 2nd round when he was the third skill position player selected that year.

He’s a risk/reward WR2 to me, similar to DJax. He’s going to have some monster games but he’s also going to put up some duds as well, as he isn’t a possession type WR.

I agree, but he also is different than DJax in his prime because Watson is incredibly accurate with that deep ball and he tends to throw deep instead of checking down when under serious pressure. I think that’s pretty unique to Watson/ Fuller. If Fuller can stay on the field he’s gotta be capable of more than the boom/bust designation.

Also, most had him ranked as the 10th rookie (or lower) in his class. As a whole, we fantasy footballers tend to stand our ground rather than admit when we are wrong.

It’ll probably take a full season of this level of production before the masses shift their view on him.

Another week and another top 10 finish. The breakout WR seems to be Golladay but what Fuller has done with Watson is still flying a little under the radar. Can this guy get some respect?

Watson loves extending plays and throwing deep. That's a great fit for Fuller.

Keke Coutee might cut into some of those deep shot opportunities more than Bruce Ellington has, though.

I watched Fuller last year and this year and he looks much better. He is bigger and catching balls over the middle now instead of being just and outside receiver. His hands also seem to have improved. He has so far scored a TD in every game he has played with Watson (6 or 7 game streak). That’s pretty consistent.

My knock on him is health. Hard to rely on him unless he shows he can stay healthy.

I sold Fuller during the draft this year. Took him in the 3rd round in 2016 and sold for a 2019 2nd and 4th (which is actually a good haul in my league). Love him as a player and think he's a WR2 or high WR3. He may be inconsistent as others have said. Probably a bit more consistent than a DJax type though.
