No brainer Conner trade?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

No brainer Conner trade?

Postby TheGoat21 » Thu Sep 06, 2018 11:53 am

An owner offered me Guice for Conner. Is this a no brainer trade? It will definitely hurt me this year for starting RB as McKinnon is down depending on how long Bell wants to hide away for.

I’m very torn as I think Conner can take over the backfield next year especially given Bell is almost good as gone now.

Thoughts?

I’d accept if I had the depth to handle it...but I don’t think it’s as no-brainer as the above people do.

There is no doubt Conner has a higher probability to help you more this year.
There is an EXCELLENT chance that Bell is gone next year. There is a decent chance, IMO, that Conner could be the main guy there. So by the time Guice is back and in a main role, Conner could be too, but in a better role.
So...it comes down to how much better you think Guice is. You have to think he is WAY better than a healthy Conner to make his a no-brainer. I think a lot of people forget or aren’t aware that Conner was a mega prospect himself, until he got cancer. Maybe that potential will still be realized.

So...Conner can help more THIS year, no doubt. What if he also helps more next year? Not far fetched at all imo. I get why the trade was proposed.

I agree with you, but from a value stand point Guice is viewed as the more valuable player (right now). If there is a non contending team with a piece you want, you may be able to flip Guice for that player that you couldn't trade for with Conner alone. It's league dependent of course. I am a Conner believer, if it weren't for cancer, he would have gone much higher, so I'd understand why you'd rather keep Conner over Guice.

I don't think that's an easy accept by any means...... Definitely worth seeing what Connor can do in Week 1.

Take Guice. He's faster, more agile, more athletic. ACL injury is a concern, but if he does come back to full strength, the gap in talent is significant. Conner isn't a bad RB, but he's replaceable in what he can do as a slow, power back. He's being elevated purely because of situation, not because he's really good on his own.
