Team Advice: Shopping for a TE

Postby oogieboogie » Mon Aug 27, 2018 9:00 pm

Hey DLF, I'm in need of advice. I have not been as invested in my dynasty teams as obsessively this year as in years past and now feel lost around this team. It's in pretty good shape, however, I am in desperate need of a TE or two since it is a Premium position (1.5 PPR) and likely a backup QB since a) Bridgewater isn't a starter [yet] and b) Brady and Bridgewater have the same Week 11 bye.

It's Roster 2 in my sig but I'm posting it here:

16 teams, PPR, TE Prem (1.5), 1/2/3/1+2 flex
QB- Brady, Bridgewater
RB- Zeke, Gurley, Hyde, Yeldon, Dixon, Conner, Foreman, Kerwynn, Cunningham
WR- Adams, Cooks, Cooper, ARob, A Wilson, J Washington, K White, LaFell, Perriman, Strong
TE- Watson, J James, Fleener, L Thomas

Appreciate your help, everybody. Thank you.

Your worried about a te with your roster in a 16 team league? Your rbs alone in the league should get you to the playoffs, but your also 4 deep at wr. Your tes are not great , but it depends on who your targeting at te. Maybe you can sell a rebuilding team on a deal for a te by using Foreman and Washington as trade bait. All depends on trade partner.

Fair point. But given it is a premium position, it can hurt to not have even a semblance of a TE on the roster.

I’d try to move Cooks for Ertz + a QB throw-in, but that would depend on how the Ertz owner feels about Cooks and whether he even needs WR help. Honestly, I’d trade Cooks for Ertz straight up, so anything you could get on top would be a win.

If you’re looking for cheaper options, I’d inquire about Njoku, Howard or Kittle. Or maybe an older tier 2 guy like Olsen or Walker could be had for a discount if their owners are rebuilding.

If you’re just trying to go bargain shopping, Ebron, Cook, Clay and McDonald seem like they could be at least serviceable with potential back-end TE1 upside.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Vernon Davis could be had super cheap. Alex Smith loves him and Jordan Reed is one hit away from being out of the picture. If you want a week one starter, maybe Ryan Griffin.

Thanks for the input. Definitely will explore these routes. I probably will prefer the cheaper options at TE.

I think you will be fine with Watson. Any chance the Olsen owner is rebuilding? He might be a solid target and seems to be cheaper this year than previous years.

At QB, I prob wouldn't force a trade. If I did, I would go after a cheaper option like Eli, Dalton or Bortles.

If looking at older vets, D. Walker should be on your list. Mariota loves him.
