Peyton Barber for a 19 1st

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Peyton Barber for a 19 1st

Postby BunkMcnulty » Sat Aug 25, 2018 4:33 pm

12 team ppr dynasty league

Just sold Peyton Barber for a mid to late 2019 1st. I am a strong contender and he would have served as my rb 5ish. Thoughts? Felt like it was a good time to cash out. Although I like Barber quite a bit, I have a hard time seeing him maintain a stranglehold on the starting job for a long period of time.

I think as commish I would have negated that deal. Barber is not worth a # 1. Just isn't. the 1.03 wanted to trade straight up for Devante Adams. I said maybe AJG and sweeten your side some. He quickly rescinded offer. Wanted straight up or nothing. If Barber is worth a mid 1st, then Adams is worth so much more. Just saying.

Barber is looking like the real deal to me. He was averaging 5 yards a carry till the other night when he averaged 6 yards a carry. And he's doing it against first team Ds. Add to that Rojo seems to suck onions and make his owners cry, Simms (a yard in a cloud of dust) is now on IR, and the Bucs are looking to add a RB and it looks like a job lock down to me.

If you vetoed a trade like that I would quit the league. You have zero idea what that future 1st would even be. Barber is also better than you think. Not saying I would make that deal but as Commish you simply have no right to place your perceived value on a trade for a future pick.

Edit to add... Where did I put that Pitchfork :D

I agree with veto the trade would be bad idea. My drafts tomorrow and I could easily try for1.1 and give him my 1.4, 1.8 and 1.11 but I refuse to for one guy and I’ll take the chance on 3. But if I really wanted 1.1 I would give all those picks if I was determined to get 1.1, it all depends on what people feel is right for their team. Some people give up a lot to move up or get future picks. Someone 2 years ago said he’ll give me his 1st and 2nd round next year for Blake Bortles and I accepted.

Correct. Veto? Just silly. First of all people can do what they want aside from obvious collusion. We all want to believe we can predict the future. Just remember right after the draft that everyone said Barber was toast. And look how fast things have changed. Barber is running possessed. I believe those who wrote him off because of pedestrian combine numbers are in for an awakening. With that receiving corps and his no nonsense running style, it's a perfect fit. And he's not losing the job. He's going to end up being a steal in redraft' s and a fine hold in dynasty.

Doesn’t surprise me 1st rounders are being offered. Until Rojo steps up his game, he is in one of the best situations outside of the stud RBs. I agree it probably won’t last long, but I’ll ride it out if I don’t get a 1st. (In my 16 team league)
