Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
What say we? I’m personally very bullish on him. Yes he’s undersized, but so are Wilson and Brees, so success in the NFL can be had even if not ‘the ideal height’. When I watch him I see a guy who has great pocket presence, is very accurate, and who has a fire and commitment to learn and hone his game. Not only that but he also has some of the best weapons around him of any team in the league with Landry, Duke, Njoku, Gordon (assuming He gets his head on straight), Calloway, and Hyde/Chubb.
Could he be the QB to finally bring Cleveland back to relevance? Not only that, could he be a top 10
QB for years to come?

I love this guy. I couldn’t add anything to what you’ve already said.
Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
He looks the part certainly and to me the safest QB to drsft in this rookie class.

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
Absolutely love Baker. Absolutely hate his (current) coach and the team owner could continue to screw things up.
I’m sold enough to take him as easily my first QB, but the “management” could screw things up. They won’t wreck him, as he doesn’t need to be developed all that much, but they could wreck his surroundings. Jackson with his awful schemes, Dorsey soon to wreck the Browns from within with zero cap management and necessarily cutting and not signing their own talent, and Haslam finding a new creative technique of getting in the way.
All that negativity aside...I’m drafting Baker at the end of round 1. QB abundance be damned.

I love Baker. The guy has found success everywhere he's played. I'd take him over any other rookie QB.

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
Love him.
The Browns are a rotten organization though, starting at the top with Haslam. I hope Baker can still thrive despite that, but I'm wary.
I have him & Rosen at roughly the same value.

Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
I took him just an hour ago at 4.02... like Chubb, he fell as the last of the big QBs in our draft because the Browns are well and truly a long-time horrid organization (until proven otherwise), and Tyrod playing well and all that.
Now I already had good young QBs and it's a 1QB league, but whatever. Most everyone else left in round 4 felt like far, far bigger dart throws.
Plus he looked good last week (love Njoku with him), and okay this week, so we'll see what happens.
Somehow I've started collecting Browns... what in the world is happening...

I don’t own him anywhere but he is everything and more what Johnny wasn’t.

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
I'm extremely excited for him and happy I took him in the 2nd round of my draft a couple months ago. The Browns organization scares me a little, but he should have a new coach next year and hopefully the start of a big turnaround. Either way, once he takes over he should be planted as a franchise QB for 10+ years.
Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
He's my #1 QB in this draft class, and I think the best QB to come into the league since Luck. Hopefully the Browns don't screw it up as they always seem to do...
Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
Likely worst case scenario is even if the Browns screw up his development, he'll get a 2nd chance somewhere else like Keenum or Bradford.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
I'm really enjoying all this love for Baker, I'm a big fan and hope he succeeds.
I'm cautiously getting excited but can hear the drums getting louder!! Seeing him lineup with Chubb at RB gives us a glimpse of what next year could look like.

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
Love him and he has top 5 upside in my opinion.
However, I am concerned Hue will hinder his development.

Re: Let’s talk... Baker Mayfield
I don't play in any superflex or 2QB leagues that may value floor over ceiling but in a 1 QB leagues I'm taking Jackson over Mayfield and I like Mayfield as an NFL QB.
I look at is this way. I expect Mayfield to be solid but his points to be pretty easily replaceable as there are about 1/2 to 2/3s of the starting QBs in the NFL sitting on someone's fantasy bench (where the cost is usually quite low to acquire) or waiver wire (where the cost is almost nil).
Jackson however, could be a disrupter at the position where his running ability can win you the week all on his own. With a QB in a start 1 QB league, I'll take the gamble on the upside here recognizing the (considerable) risk.
