2018 Training Camp Turds

Postby Dynasty DeLorean » Tue Jul 31, 2018 4:12 pm

While it's fun to read the puff hype pieces of the training camp superstars, it may be more telling when a player isn't doing so well. Anyone this year not doing so hot in training camp? Who were some players last year that were perceived to have a poor training camp and how did that translate to the season?

edit:
Parker
Michel
Fountain
Kirk
Mark Andrews
Kenneth Dixon
Rico Gathers
Leonte Carroo
NJoku?

By all accounts Devante Parker has been trash this TC...starting to make that "4th yr breakout" look less and less probable

Michel fumbled in OTAs and he fumbled again in training camp and had to run laps.

Njoku has been up and down. Makes some great catches but also having a big case of the dropsies.

Fountain getting passed by Cain now.

Dak looks just ok.

It'll be pretty alarming if he doesn't produce this season with Landry gone.

For 3 years it's been nothing but hype pieces followed by regular season disappointment. This year it's the opposite. Bad in the off-season, a stud during the regular season. I mean, that just makes sense... right? :P

I've been the biggest Parker supporter you'll find, but if he doesn't make it happen now he never will.

Christian Kirk is being played out of position as an outside-WR because Arizona doesn't want to take Fitz out of the slot. He's not doing well there. Last I heard, he's getting reps as the offense's WR5. Disappointing for a rookie thought to have one of the better landing spots for year one contribution.

Mark Andrews has been a no-show in camp, due to soft tissue problems.

Ditto for Kenneth Dixon.

Josh Allen is struggling as Buffalo's third-string QB. (lol)

It does. There's no one else in that offense as talented as him and the Dolphins will probably be passing a lot. But, overall I just haven't seen where he's improved since coming into the league. He looks like the same player and hasn't added much detail.

Guess the Rico Gathers experiment in Dallas isn't going well. He may not make the team at this point.
QB- R. Wilson, Garoppolo, Fields, Ridder, Rudolph, Hooker
RB- Ekeler, Mostert, Pacheco, Dillon, Dobbins I/R
WR- Metcalf, Pickens, Higgins, DJ Moore
TE- Kincaid, Higbee
K- Aubrey
Def- Denver, Pittsburgh

No PPR, Start 2 QBs, 2 RBS, 2 WRS, 1 TE, 1 FLEX,1 K, 1 DEF/ST. 6 pts all touchdowns
2002 Points Champion, 2007 HTH Champion, 2014 HTH Champion

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention ol' Rico. Reading accounts of the practices, one guy wrote that not only was Gathers the worst blocker, he was the clumsiest route-runner, too.

It's not happening with him. If people wanna take a flier on a Dallas TE, go with Jarwin.

Defensive news, but apparently Richard Sherman is awfully slow and getting beat on fades left and right simply not able to keep up

Everything in Miami sucks. Parker not able to beat their #1 corner (not like he's going against Xavier Rhodes) and Caroo Leonte is a cut candidate

Sony Michel has had more than one fumble and made to run laps
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Achane, Dobbins, Algier, trash

picks-
2025 1,1,1,1,2,3,4,5
2026- 1,2,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
