Trade back into 2nd round?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade back into 2nd round?

Postby Jcedwards » Thu Jun 07, 2018 12:40 pm

Looking to trade up into the 2nd round to take Burton/ Kittle?

I have picks 1.01, 2.01, 3.03, and 3.06. I'm taking Barkley at 1.01 obviously and am thinking of Sutton at 2.01 (if he is there). I feel like taking one of them at 2.01 is too early, but I'm not sure that either will be there at 3.03, so should I try to package 3.03 and 3.06 with another small piece to move up to 2.06 if possible? Or package a 3rd round pick with a 2019 2nd round pick (probably will be late)? Or would you just stay with the picks I have and hope one of them falls?

Who are the other vets besides Burton/Kittle who have 2nd round and upper value? If they two are the only ones, then yes they should not fall to 3.3.

Trading 3.3 and 3.6 to move to 2.6 range seems ok, but do you really need Burton/Kittle? You have Njoku and Eifert, so might be able to land Goedert and have him develop in the meanwhile.

3.03 and 3.06 probably won't get you to move up much, but if you can get a mid 2nd and take one of those TEs, then I say go for it. If not, just stay put. If those two are gone by your picks, then maybe a couple of other players will drop that would normally go earlier.

Only other “vet” going in the 2nd round or above is Chris Godwin and he isn’t really even a vet yet, as he is just going into his 2nd year. But no one else is worth a 1st or 2nd round pick. Well I guess I really don’t need to, but I’m still unsure of Njoku this year and Eifert can’t stay healthy. I’m not sure on Kittle for this year, but I do think he will be good for the future. Burton I think will be good for this year.

I guess it all depends on the price to get them. If you talk to someone in the mid to late 2nd and they may be willing to move back for two thirds I'd go for it, but I wouldn't overpay here.

Maybe wait and see, as soon as one of them comes off the board you could re-evaluate in trading up but they could easily fall to the 3rd too. Agree with not overpaying, I think Eifert and Njoku are solid enough to have a rook sitting behind them.

The guy I am thinking about offering the trade is looking for more picks. Or at least he was. He was shopping his 1st round pick to pick up more picks in the draft. Now whether or not he is wanting 3rd round picks or if he just wanted a bunch of 2nd round picks I'm not sure of. Only one way to find out and that is to ask. But I am definitely not overpaying, just to move up to mid-late 2nd round. I think my team is good as is, so I am not going to overpay when I don't have to.

We have added a taxi squad to our league. Anyone think that it is better to keep 3.03 and 3.06 and whoever I do grab at those spots (if it is a rookie or 2nd year player), to place them there versus moving up?
