I just made my pick at 1.3 and it was NOT NICK CHUBB.
I took Sony Michel. Only guy from Tier 2 I did not have a share of yet. I hedge my bets way too much.
Oh well, hoping for the best. I'd trade them all for Saquon, especially with his landing spot.

I think that's a great price for Chubb. ESB means very little to me at this point.

Nick Chubb catching passes in camp

Postby kris_kapsner » Mon Jun 04, 2018 8:59 am

I know it's early and nothing really means much at this stage of camp. But, it's great to see Nick Chubb getting some work with the 1's and also catching some passes.

Count me as someone who currently has Nick Chubb at my #2 ranked rookie RB for dynasty behind Barkley. The guy looks like a 3 down RB to me. He's playing in an offensive scheme that has proven to produce a high quality RB1 (Bell) and it's not like he never caught the ball in college. He caught the ball plenty in his freshman year when he took over for an injured Todd Gurley.

Without the knee injury, Chubb would have most likely been a top 10 NFL draft pick just like Gurley and the hands down #2 RB in the draft without any debate.

Here's a quick clip of Chubb at camp:

He's gotta be able to catch at least 1 pass per game. He just has to do it, otherwise he's one-dimensional and defenses have an easier time defending when he's on the field.

It doesn't mean that he's being trained to take over pass-catching duties. This changes nothing.

I don't think this changes anything. I think most people underestimate his ability to turn into a 3 down RB.

Confirms my hopes/belief that he has what it takes to be a 3-down back. The only question is how soon they will hand over the reins.
The standard is the standard.

If this were really the case then he wouldn't be going in the top 1/2 of round 1 in drafts. Chubb's problem in fantasy is he is one of several RB's that haven't really distinguished himself from the others.

He could end up being one of the best or just a guy at the next level from this class. Personally I see Mark Ingrim type upside and it took him a few years.

Unfortunately, he could also end up being Eddie Lacy instead of Frank Gore who he gets compared to from time to time.

^ Lance Zurlein listed his comp as Alfred Morris, that scared me away. It may be completely wrong, but having someone who gets paid for scouting reports make hay comparison isn’t great.

i dont get why anyone thinks anything other than hes one of the top 3 or 4 backs in this draft. he tested just as well as barkley at the combine (ok slightly below but had barkley not been there the story would have been about how chubb crushed the combine)

his college production was extremely good and pre knee injury everyone talked about him like they did with fournette, zeke, or barkley coming out.

i think people see Browns and see hyde/duke and they write him off their list.

he will be a stud and he will get heavy usage year 1. im all in on this dude
team 1
12 team, 1 pt for 4 rec, 0.1 per rush
1qb, 3 rb, 4 wr, te, k, 4 idp

J Jefferson, Diggs, DK, D Smith Puka, C Watson, E Moore

team 2
12 team .5ppr

Exactly.

Chubb was in the same class as Todd Gurley when he took over for him as a freshman and performed just as admirably. His knee injury was brutal and he wasn't the same the next year. But, he was back...without a brace. He looked fluid again in 2017. The combine just topped it off showing his explosiveness has come back and he is an incredible athlete.

Athlete doesn't equal great RB though. Vision and feel for the game does. And in that regard Nick Chubb may be the best RB in this class. His vision and intuition for the position is amazing.

Now, to knock the Browns as a landing spot is a mistake in my opinion. They may have one of the most talented offenses in the league. No, I'm not a Browns fan. They have a serviceable QB with experience who led a struggling team to the playoffs and now a #1 overall pick QB behind him. They have a 4 WR's on their roster who have been referred to as 1st round WR talent. They have a 1st round TE. Their offensive line is solid. Other than a deep RB core as well to compete with, I see no reason to NOT expect big things from Chubb in the future with the Browns, especially with Todd Haley as the OC.

I'm old enough to remember before the combine when people were grossed out by Chubb and Michel was a god.

Also, every NFL player can catch a football. His biggest problem is Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde. Not his talent.

EDIT: Actually his biggest problem is being a Brown and playing for Hue Jackson in general. R.I.P. Chubb.

You continue to spew this nonsense about the Browns as though because a team is a poor NFL team that there is no value in their fantasy players. Duke Johnson was the #12 RB last season and he's not even the starting RB. That Terrell Pryor guy posted a 1,000+ yard receiving season - his only one - with a big stinking pile of poo at QB in 2016. Then he goes to play with the "god-like" Kirk Cousins last year and does almost nothing. Peyton Hillis was the #1 RB in football a few years back. Josh Gordon was the #1 WR.

Now consider something...look where all the top RBs in this class went and their ranking as rushing teams last season:

New York Giants (26)
New England (10)
Seattle (23)
Tampa Bay (27)
Detroit (32)
Cleveland (18)
Washington (28)

Not sure if I missed one but by my count only one of those teams had a more productive rushing offense in 2017 than the Browns. Chubb is going to one of the better situations on a team that made multiple improvements to their offense this off season.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.
