RJ infatuation

Postby Typhus » Sun May 13, 2018 12:27 am

I drafted at the 1.11 this year, so obviously I couldn't draft Ronald Jones even if I wanted to, and would have probably at 1.11 if somehow he was there.

Didn't think he would go so high actually, went to the 1.04 owner, and now that the draft is all most over, the 1.04 owner sends me a trade offer... his 5.04 for my Peyton Barber... um sorry that aint happening.

Barber will be the starter, and now RJ owners are trying to handcuff their reach with a low ball... lol

This happening to any other Barber owners?

Hang on to Barber, he will at least be the starter early, I will consider trading him for much more to the RJ owner when they realize this.

I compare Barber to Marlon Mack,,, Hines owners probably doing the same.

...I would honestly sell Barber for whatever I could get. He is not good. Add in the undrafted status, odds are very much against him.

I would sell Barber. I might try my barber and a third for his future second or settle for a third.

X3 Occasionally I'll handcuff if the cuff is good. I won't pursue Barber in either league where I have RoJo because he's just not good. I expect him to be on most waiver wires by midseason.

Getting any value out of Barber feels like a win. I can’t agree with you that Barber will be the starter, I’d definitely put my money on the opposite. And he’s not close to Mack level value.

Sometimes it's hard to see the players that we own accurately isn't it?

Barber will more than likely be replaced by RJ, I get that, but in a Dynasty he still holds more value than a 5th round pick at this point.
Maybe he gets cut or traded to a better situation.

Honestly I never had to start him, just depth on my roster, but still Barber is young, seems to run hard. I was never saying he was the next LT.
Just more value than a 5th to me.

Unless you're playing IDP, selling for a 5th makes no sense. You'd be hoping that player ends up where Barber is now. If Ronald Jones misses time, there will likely be a higher point in the season to sell at, and most 5ths don't even make their NFL team's roster. A 3rd seems like a fair point.

...Barber only even played because everyone else in front of him was hurt.
You could even make a case for Rodgers & Sims being above Barber.

I would still rather take a dart throw 5th over Barber.

This reeks of Thomas Rawls all over again - albeit Barber is much less impressive than Rawls allegedly was.

To the many saying they would sell him for “whatever,” there will be undrafted rbs going in the 5th and earlier (like Adams) that people just want to take a shot at in case opportunity arises and they can not only make the roster but climb the depth chart.
As much as I don’t care about Barber, and believe he is below replacement level, he has already achieved what these 4th-5th round rbs are being drafted to hopefully achieve.
I don’t think he’s worth much, but I’d try to get at minimum something like a 3rd from the Jones owner for a 5th and Barber.

The time to sel Barber was before Rojo was drafted by the Bucs. Sure you can hold him and hope Rojo gets injured and you can sell him for more, or you can take a shot with another 5th round pick and hope they turn into more than a backup RB, which is Barbers long term future.

People fall head over heels in love with opportunity, no matter how it comes. Every year there are mediocre and replaceable talents who people hype up purely because they could be starters in garbage RB groups. Over the past few years: Jeremy Langford, Paul Perkins, Ty Montgomery, Jacquizz Rodgers, Thomas Rawls, Terrence West, Mike Gillslee, Matt Jones, etc.

It's a long, long list of mediocrity and "we just didn't want to invest into an RB this year."

I get that opportunity is important for an RB, but if I'm invested you actually have to be good outside of the chance you obtain. Personally, I wouldn't want either player. Barber is JAG and Jones has never really impressed me.
