Rookie Rankings/Tiers

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rookie Rankings/Tiers

Postby bigbuck22 » Mon Jan 15, 2018 5:11 pm

I have not seen a post on this yet. Although it's very early, I think getting some rankings out there for reference when guys are looking at buying/ selling picks during third stage would be beneficial.
Maybe a top 12, 1QB or 2QB/Superflex

It's still so freaking early. I don't know WHAT to think about WRs to be honest. Guys like Sutton are practically making dynasty owners wet themselves yet the real NFL is projecting him in the late First if not Day 2. Similar with James Washington.

Might be easier to put them in tiers right now instead of ranking, but even that's hard to do this early unless you've been following these guys for awhile.

For me 2QB standard

Tier 1: Barkley

Tier 2: Guice, Chubb, Sutton

Tier 3: Kirk, Darnold, Rosen

Tier 4: Ridley, Freeman, Lamar Jackson, Mayfield, Washington

Tier 5: DJ Moore, Michel, ESB, Auden Tate, Rashaad Penny

Gets a little murky after that

Yeah definitely wouldnt surprise me if he ends up 2nd best RB in class.
But right now I am a little lower than consensus on Michel.

Enjoy this time of year if you are a research person. Its a great time to watch and learn about these players. This is a great draft class. After the bowl games in the next few weeks things will go nuts. Still a bit early, but some above are getting a head start. Good luck!

I've seen picks 2 through 8 all over the board, and not like last year where it was the same 6 guys just in differing order. Here's my stab based off what I've been seeing coming out early from sources, not any of my own hard research or film or anything

Tier 1 Barkley, and so high up the next feels like tier 4 for drop-off comparison, not 2

Tier 2- Guice, Sutton, Chubb*

Tier 3- Ridley, Love*, Michel, Washington, Jones*

Anyone with an * can easily swap tiers, and likely will a dozen times before draft day. Heck, probably the others too.

There's so much depth, I actually want some more seconds. With as unclear as it is, some guys you think should go mid first could be alive for the picking in the 2nd
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
2022: 1-8
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Dobbins, Achane, Charbonnet, Algier, McBride, waiver trash
WR: JSN, QJ, Addison, Dotson, Skyy Moore, Jameson Williams, Hyatt, T Dell, Boutte, Skowronek, Quez Watkins, Greg Dortch, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:
QB: Ljax, GenoD Jones, Minshew, Dobbs
RB: CMC, Stevenson, A Jones, Chubb, A Mattison, D cook, Perine, Mckinnon,
WR:Tyreek, Diggs, C Kupp, D Adams, Keenan Allen, Lockett, Gallup, A Lazard, Hodgins
TE: Kelce, LaPorta, Irv Smith,
No picks until 2026 5th rounder lol

Yep and then Calvin Ridley who a lot of us seem to put into the third or sometimes fourth tier and into our second rounds is projected as a real early-mid first and the first wr off the board

Show how useful my stab was. Love just said he was going back to college for his senior year. That hurts, even if you didn't specifically want him someone did and that would push other players down to you

It hurts, but not that much. Love is probably actually smart to go back. He could be looking at McCaffery level hype with another season. Guys like Josh Adams, Kerryon Johnson, Rashad Penny, Royce Freeman will all slot up a spot. I don't think Love was 1st round worthy anyway. I'm sure the combine and overall process will push an unknown guy or two up enough to be talked about in the first two rounds of drafts.
Despite the depth that seems to be out there for this draft, about 6-8 weeks ago, I read something put out by Bleacher Report that scouts across the league think this overall draft is one of the weakest in awhile and that included the QB and WR position. I'm not sure yet if that's true at QB, but although solid depth, I wouldn't say the WR position is stacked with elite talent. None of them look to be sure fire studs. I think everyone of them can be greatly influenced by landing spot.
