ATL backfield [POLL]

Postby Defender » Sat Dec 30, 2017 1:21 am

Would you look to buy into the ATL backfield following this season-long slump?

At the end of last season, everyone was calling the regression of the Falcons’ offense. As expected, Freeman and Coleman have each done significantly worse this year than last. Do you expect this level of production to be the new norm for this duo, or will we see a rebound to somewhere in the middle? I hope for a rebound, but I worry that the over-production was mostly a product of the Shanahan system.

What do you guys think? Would you buy into the ATL backfield?
The standard is the standard.

As with any question of buy or sell, of course it all depends on price.

I think Coleman is & always has been vastly overrated. Similar to Charles Sims 2-3 years ago, we imagine that because he's Flexable in a limited role, that must mean he's an elite talent. It's simply not the case. He's not bad, but he's a Lamar Miller type at BEST.

Freeman on the other hand, IS an elite talent. Darn close to it anyway. Probably a step down from the Bells & DJs, but he's a stud. The only question I have for his future, is can his body stand up to much more of a workhorse role? He's a small dude. Granted, he's typically been very good about shying away from big hits, but still.

Depending on price, the only person I’d be taking a shot on is Freeman. Not saying he will bounce back, but give the offense another off season, and they should we able to work through some of their kinks.

Im buying both depending on price. Im fairly confident Coleman won't be around after next season and likely gets a chance to be the lead dog somewhere. Which would also give Freeman more carries as well.

Down year and both likely headed for lead dog jobs after next season equals a buy for me

Last year, they put up roughly 1,600 rushing yards between the two of the them. This year they've put up just under 1,450 with a game to go. The offense was always going to regress after last year, so anticipating their TD production was a fool's game. Not sure why their passing game usage is down so much, but that's really where you need to hope for them to bounce back because the TDs aren't likely to come back. I'd probably buy Freeman if I could get any sort of discount on him. I'm less bullish on Coleman, but mainly because my team is already loaded with guys on the back end of a time share situation and I have no interest in adding another one.
