Eli benched for Geno

Pretty sad way to go out for a guy who's done so much to turn that franchise around. He might not be a Hall of Famer, but he's pretty underappreciated for what he's done. Their head coach has tried to use Eli as a scapegoat all year long, but it's hard to blame a guy who's best receiving option is a rookie TE, with no run game, and one of the worst O-lines in the league. Can't wait to see what Geno does with all that talent.

Sucks to see his consecutive start streak end over this disaster, hardly his fault and he is not the issue. I agree that he is underappreciated.

This benching is one of the dumbest in recent memory, next to Tyrod being benched.

I have never been a fan of Eli, but this is laughable. Geno Smith? Really? At least try Davis Webb if you are going to do this. You have to think this entire front office/coaching staff gets blown up in the near future.

I could be wrong, but I believe Eli had the option to play or not. He chose to bench himself for the sake of the team. He would be starting if he wanted to. Maybe that's just what they wanted to tell the world though...

I grabbed Webb in my superflex league in anticipation of this a couple weeks ago. So, hopefully Geno isn't starting for long and they give Webb an extended look to see if he can be anything.

I don't think it's a wise benching either but they need to move on. I wasn't expecting it until the off season after they draft a rookie.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Basically they said they'd start him to keep the streak alive, but he wouldn't be finishing the game.

Sad to see. He isn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but he is better than Geno. Definitely done dirty on this one, respect for telling McAdoo to sod off trying to keep the streak alive.

haha yes. It would be a little less intentional if it was the rookie. They could say hes gaining experience with starts and looking to next year
