Trade Advice: David Johnson

Postby hingle » Sat Nov 18, 2017 11:39 am

Hey all, been awhile since I posted.

A guy in my league just offered me:

Get: David Johnson
Give: Likely 1.01 and Mixon

I’m in a rebuild but I have some solid young pieces and could likely make a push next year or the following if some guys pan out.

Current roster highlights below.

Wentz, Carr
Henry, Crowell, Mixon, Jones (GB), Dixon
OBJ, M. Thomas, Davis, Lee, Conley, Pryor, Ross, Meredith
Henry, Engram, Shaheen
Plus the likely 1.01 and two 2nds

I’m actually hesitant because I like Mixon and I know I can get another great RB in the draft even if I don’t get the 1.01.
12 Team PPR, 6pt TDs
1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1TE, 2Flex (W/R/T)
QB: Jackson, Mayfield, Pickett
RB: Barkley, Taylor, N. Harris, L. Murray, Scott
WR: Jefferson, K.Allen, Higgins, Diggs, Chark, Atwell
TE: Pitts, Njoku, Mayer(R) Tremble
2024 Picks: 1.05, 3.05, 4.05/4.09

I know DJ is gold and in most cases I'd encourage rebuilders/non-contenders to get him at a discount now, but this isn't much of a discount. In your position I'd gamble on Barkely and Mixon and hope you have 2 stud running backs.
10 Team Half PPR Scoring SF
QB: Mahomes, Hurts, Minshew
RB: Kamara, K. Hunt, Warren, Bigsby, D. Cook, Jamaal Williams, J. Wilson, McLaughlin, McKinnon, J. Kelley
WR: A.J. Brown, Diggs, K. Allen, C. Watson, Cooks, Pickens, W. Robinson
TE: Kelce, J. Smith, Musgrave

So far this has been my thought as well but I wanted to get an outside perspective.

Agree. It's probably the right price to pay for him, but not sure I'd be willing to.

You have a solid young team. With your 1, I would be looking at depth in WR.

Keep Mixon and swap him Crowell. DJ has a wrist injury and is 25 (so he was a few years left and should be back solid next year on a team that needs a grinder to protect a young QB ((Carson is done)). Still, 1.1 plus Mixon is two much. However, if he insists, take a vet WR with a few years left in addition to DJ.

Is he rebuilding as well. post his lineup and there might be a good opportunity we can't see yet. g'luck!

WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk

Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.
