Waiver Wire Help

Postby ThatGuyBrian » Thu Oct 26, 2017 12:01 pm

So I have gotten really lucky and find my team currently sitting at 5-2 (second place) through seven games of the season. Now the byes are beginning to affect my roster and I am looking to pick up some potential players I can stash. Below are some players on the waiver wire I am considering picking up:

Running Back
Rex Burhead (there are some people who think highly of him)

Wide Receivers
Curtis Samuel (potentially the receiver with the most talent on the Panthers team)

Who are potential candidates for waiving to make space:
QB: Andy Dalton, Ben Roethlisberger, Jared Goff, DeSean Watson
RB: Todd Gurley, Rob Kelley, Chris Carson (IR), Aaron Jones, Marlon Mack, Matt Forte, Wayne Gallman, Alex Collins
WR: TY Hilton, Julio Jones, Jarvis Landry, Nelson Aghlor, Corey Coleman (IR), Kevin White (IR), Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Shuster, Kenny Golladay,
TE: Jimmy Graham, Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, OJ Howard, Nick O'Leary
K: Justin Tucker
DST: Carolina

Also just a quick question:
Do you think that an owner should be forced to pick up a defense or kick when they have a defense on bye? This is a debate which is on going in my league. My feeling is I don't want to pick up a horrible defense which will more than likely score negative points or a kicker for one week, at the expense of a position player that I drafted and waiting to develop.

Thanks for the help and the thoughts on the question.

I was thinking about either O'Leary or Gallman. So you think O' Leary would be the better player to drop.

I have a trade offer for Jimmy Graham. The owner offered Martavis Bryant for Graham. Would this be a worthwhile trade considering where Bryant currently stands with the team?

First Congrats! (so far)

Second, I'm hoping you have an IR slot, and even at that I would question why you feel you need to hang onto K.White (I'm a former owner, he's a draft bust!). If you don't have designated IR slots in your league, you should be able to clear 3 spaces up quick without much thought.

For the remainder, I would say, yes, put up the points. Add the DST and K for a week. In a 10-team league with your starting requirements, you have the ability to drop the following players and still find them the following week on waivers (if you really want them):
Andy Dalton
Rob Kelley
Matt Forte
Nick O'Leary
all three IR players - Carson, Coleman, White

g'luck!
THE PYRATES. Terrorizing this league since 2006 - Playoffs (06,07,10,11,13-16,18, 19)
4 Division titles, 5 Superbowls (2006, 2013-2016), 2013 CCFL Champions

QB: D.Watson, T.Bridgewater, C.Newton, AJ.McCarron, J.Hurts-R
RB: D.Henry, K.Drake, A.Dillon-R, D.Evans-R, R.Armstead, D.Lewis, F.Gore, B.Hill, D.Williams, D.Dallas-R,
WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk
TE: T.Kelce, C.Herndon
K: M.Gay, M.Prater
DEF Texans, Seahawks

14-team, 2 division, non-ppr with salary caps. Starts 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, K, DST
Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we don't have IR spots, and yes I may be stupid for holding on the Coleman and White but I still believe in the talent. Foolish I know but going to ride it out. Since this is a dynasty league I know two of the three players (Coleman and Carson) would be snagged off of waivers instantly.

Agreed and I would hate to drop White then have him actually do something on another team, but I get the reasons to label him a bust. Its just at this point I am fairly comfortable at receiver and can take a chance, at least one more, on the talent White has overcoming his Mr Glass reputation.

Simple answer is "yes" because it's generally a rule in every league that they have to start a full line-up and about starting players on bye.

Drop O'Leary and Gallman.

Thanks for the input. The ironic thing is I have the panthers def/st, who are on bye in week 11, the only other def/st available is the jets def/st and they have the same bye week. Most of the other owners have 3-4 def/st.

I have to use forte while Gurley is on his bye this week and he a decent start the week before Jones burst on the scene last week. I waived O’Leary for Samuel. For whatever reason I am still holding out hope for White.
