Too sentimental?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Too sentimental?

Postby Favrezilla » Fri Sep 08, 2017 7:22 pm

So I had to burn a roster spot on martavis (19 spots NO IR for suspended players) last year and someone wants to trade me a late 2018 1st for him...it's not guaranteed to be late but it will at best be 1.5ish and most likely 1.8-1.10

What are your thoughts? I was thinking of offering golden tate instead but o love me some Tate too... I'm also really deep at WR on this team (team 2 below) but feel like martavis has a chance to put up some serious numbers moving forward in his career....I'm not worried about the risk if the best is a mid-late first right now.

I don't think I'd do it for a 1.8-1.10. If you could guarantee me it'd be 1.5 then maybe.

Someone's gotta be the heir apparent to Antonio, right? Plus that's just a high volume offense, he'll get his catches this year. The way I see it, he's a startable WR2/Flex guy as is and COULD feasibly escalate significantly in value within the next few years. Do you think you can get that from a late 2018 first?

Man... first off you've got a good problem to have!

I think Bryant for a First is fair, although I'm inclined to value him closer to 1.04-1.06 than a "late" first. I truly believe he's a different cat than Gordon or Blackmon. I think he's here to stay in the NFL.

That being said, you've got fantastic WR depth and you could really use another blue chip RB, so maybe you trade him away for the First and then draft a 2nd tier RB in 2018. Ask for a 2nd on top? If he really wants Bryant, he shouldn't have a problem paying a 2nd.

I'm never going to give up a 1st round pick for such a high risk player and would make him someone else's problem for that very easily.

I'd much rather keep Tate.

That's where I'm at...if I knew it was 1.3-5 the deal is probably already done but in addition to him having a playoff team I'm giving him Martavis. Tough one.

Yeah I agree here as well...I do think he's a much different person and In a better situation to succeed in sobriety (legalize it already!) plus again I really do think he's going to go ham this year as well.

It's tough - I know the floor with Tate is probably the highest out of anyone in my team as well...

Some have yet to wake up.

I'm waiting on Martavis even further. His value is only going to climb. They dumped Coates for a reason. Martavis was instantly installed as the WR2. JuJu is a backup.

it seems that this is a superflex league, is there a way to send glennon and martavis for the 18 1st and a QB?
you could also use another RB, what is the other owner's RB situation?

edit: i should mention that i would also send martavis for a 1st...but i would try to get a little more

He has arod, Brady and garapalo...he can't give up Brady or ARod without rebuilding so I doubt he'd do that...maybe jimmy? But I don't even know how I feel about him lol.

He's also really thin at RB with TColeman, Blount and Hunt.

His value is going to increase. I traded him away around reinstatement time this off-season for the 1.23 (32 team, double player copy, superflex) and kind of wish I would've held. I did combine that pick with the 1.32 for DT though, so that helps soften the blow a bit.

I'd take the first. I'm becoming more risk adverse and I like acquiring future firsts- next off season will be able to either move up in the draft or cash out.

You are more than welcome to be the rube who decides that a Josh Gordon type is worth holding onto. I don't agree his value will climb. It's like Jordan Reed and perceived concussion risk. Doesn't matter to many how he performs on the field because the risk is ever present. Same with Bryant. He is always a misstep away from an indefinite ban. And I am not of the mind of "if" but "when". I believe there is a 100% certainty of it happening. No way is he tanking his career on my roster.

I’d try and get a second or a 3rd with the first. Your deep at wr. Dont really new him. If your saying it’s going to be a later pick cause of his squad. Injuries can happen and hurt him which than he can have a lower pick and will leave you with 2 first round picks. Also it’s Bryant who has a history with drugs so he might get caught again and get another suspension. Also Big Ben ?? How much longer does he have. Don’t know what the team is going to get out of there next qb.
