POLL - Kareem Hunt Value (2018 picks)

Postby LaDarius » Fri Sep 08, 2017 3:09 pm

What would you trade for Kareem Hunt right now (2018 picks)?

All responses are welcome in addition to poll responses. I'm interested to see how much this has changed in the recent days.

As a Kareem Hunt owner, while I'm aware we may very well have just seen the best fantasy game of his career, I'm still not trading him for even an early first. Why would I? Isn't the point of early firsts to get promising rookies in good situations to score? Is that not exactly what I'm looking at?

I wouldn't say he's untouchable by any stretch, but I'm not moving him for anything except another proven young stud (or perhaps a solid contributor + an early pick pick), both of which would be an overpay after one game. I have to imagine the people saying they'd trade him for a mid-1st rounder are people wishfully thinking that they'll be able to get him for that price... he was a mid-late 1st rounder in rookie drafts before Ware went down and before he went off for 45 PPR-league points in his debut. You crazy? No way does a mid-1st get him.

So, like, come at me with Zeke or something equally stupid and sure, but otherwise, I'll pass.

EDIT: I did misread the question and thought you were asking what you'd SELL him for, not what you'd PAY for him. I get people not being willing to shell out for him yet in that case. Still, mid-1st isn't getting close right now.

As a Hunt owner I wouldn't trade him right now. I don't know if I would trade for him either right now. Price would be too high. Although I would gladly offer a mid 2018 first plus.

This - as a Hunt owner, we basically struck gold. This was phrased perfectly - what are you looking for in a 1st round rookie pick? You're looking for exactly what Hunt has given you, but now it's proven, it's no longer a "what if". There is no way he's going for only a first round pick at this point. Especially now that he has played a real NFL game against what should have been at least a solid defense, and showed that he could be a true bellcow back in Andy Reid's offense, he's gained the teams trust after this game and I don't see that changing at all anytime soon. The main concern for Hunt should have been, "Can he handle a bellcow role? Or will he fall apart under the pressure and remain a timeshare/pass catcher/hurry up offense role once 2018 roles around?" He has answered that question. Hunt should be basically locked into a high RB2/fringe RB1 role barring injury. You will have to come at me with a ridiculous offer to tear that away.

I voted for "Early 2018 First PLUS", simply because we all know the season is a roller coaster and we can't know which picks will necessarily be "early".

If you could guarantee exactly what pick I would be receiving, I would send Hunt away for a top 3 pick in 2018.

I probably wouldn't be willing to pay what Hunt owner's would be expecting in return right now.

I also didn't catch that the post was asking what I would PAY. I thought it was asking what I would need to SELL.

I would pay a random First if I feel pretty darn good about my team.

Some of these options shouldn't even be in this poll. He's been going pretty consistently at 1.06-1.07 in any recent drafts before the game last night. Unless your are completely oblivious, offering less than that lacks any conceivable logic.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Hell, I took him 1.07 before Ware got hurt, passing on OJ Howard and I might have passed on Mike Williams for him too if he somehow hadn't gone at #6. Dude was a reasonable candidate for 1.06-1.08 BEFORE Ware got hurt and BEFORE he posted this game tape.

Also to add - I gotta say, that KC O-line looks rock solid this year. I was impressed. Also shocked to see that Hunt could break some of those long runs because his athletic profile doesn't really support that he could pull those off.

I agree with what you said but I think 70-80% of that was due to NE being hot garbage on D, especially their front guys. They made KC's linemen's job way too easy.

That being said, I'm not at all trying to knock the Chiefs for looking great. You can only play who's on your schedule, that sort of thing; the only opponent that Kansas City was able to face last night was an opponent that they played very well against.

I just don't want us to go too overboard thinking that KC has this dominant line, when they were getting push against a very weak Patriots defense. Similarly, Hunt was running past defenders who are 2nd and 3rd string if on a healthy roster.

Sorry I wouldn't know, is the pats front 7 banged up (outside of hightower?). I know their secondary should be stout w/ butler, mccourty, and gilmore. Didn't they also just pick someone up from the Hawks?

Well they were already gonna be shorthanded coming into the season, as they lost Ninkovich (starting DE) to retirement and Chris Long (rotational pass rusher) to Free Agency.
Some thought Ealy might start at DE but they cut him.
Then they lose their first draft pick Derek Rivers (was set to be a starting DE) to season-ending injury.
They played Hightower exclusively as a DE/Edge LB last night; he replaced Rivers in the lineup (who himself replaced Ninkovich).
To fill Hightower's role at MLB, they promoted Kyle Van Noy, who is NOT a starting caliber NFL linebacker.
So THEN, when Hightower went out, they brought in Cassius Marsh (acquired from the Seahawks) who has talent but he is, again, NOT a starting caliber player in the league. Marsh is the one who gave up the big pass play TD to Hunt.
