Bawling over a low ankle sprain lol Engram better be the confident one on that squad. Odell tearing up over nothing last year, now Shephard.

Sterling Shepard
In the off chance that OBJ is traded, what would this do for Shepards value and fantasy production? Also, if OBJ is traded what would you pay for Shepard in 2019 rookie picks? I'm just trying to think ahead a bit.

Re: Sterling Shepard
I don't own Shepard anywhere. That said, I don't think it affects his value much at all. If OBJ is gone, that just means more rushing attempts and the Giants will be in complete rebuild mode. He will be a fantasy WR3/flex play most weeks, which I guess is worth an early 2nd.
Re: Sterling Shepard
Fair question and solid forward thinking... I'd simply always recommend you evaluate talent level of 'next man up' when a stud is departing. So often people think 'XYZ goes down and ABC is going to output XYZs production', when that is never realistic. Sterling Shepard isn't an alpha WR1, he isn't OBJ, and he is soon going to be stuck with a rookie QB that may or may not favor him. For all of those reasons, I personally have no interest in Shepard, but agree a early/mid 2R should get it done.

Re: Sterling Shepard
Agree. Shepard will see some sort of uptick in volume, but not all targets are interchangeable. Think about the Bills situation. Just because someone is the defacto WR1 doesn't mean the team supports even one fantasy relevant WR, which is what I'd expect our of NY if OBJ leaves.Oddball456 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 19, 2019 8:42 am I don't own Shepard anywhere. Re: Sterling Shepard
I'm a Giants fan and Shepard is a buy for me this offseason, particularly if I can get him for around a late second. I think he's going to leave after the year. My thinking is as follows:
1. He's a free agent after 2019
2. Giants have cap issues, substantial holes to fill throughout the roster, and significant investment into their skill positions already between drafting Engram and Barkley and paying Odell. As a caveat, their investment into WR is top heavy, and they have poor depth behind Shepard. I just don't think they'll be able to afford a second contract for Shep. They shouldn't pay him market rate.
3. Shep's a beast over the middle. He's a pretty decent player on the outside too. He's not a premier WR talent, but he is a very good football player.
I think if you can get him for cheap and hold him for a year, you could very possible have a strong flex play in PPR on your hands. Certainly worth the price of a late second.
Your whole starting lineup can't be studs. You need to find cheap production somewhere. This is exactly the type of player I look for to take that chance on.... a good player in a terrible situation for production that you can get cheap.

Sterling probably would go for an early to mid first. So, like 1.03 to 1.06
