I agree, grab 3 of the later guys and I bet one pans out to be a top 2 or 3 Te from this class.schiewerma21 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2017 3:36 pm Howard for me and its not close.
However, the real guys i love are Everett and Shaheen for where you are getting them. For my team in sig 1 i just got shaheen at 4.03 and i felt like i stole him.

I grabbed Njoku in the 2nd, but was also able to pick up Everett from the waivers after the draft. Nobody grabbed Butt yet though.
Everett could be a huge steal for free for me.

This is a good strategy. Even though I think Howard is the 5th or 6th best prospect, spending so high on rookie TE's isn't a great strategy.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2017 4:27 pmI agree, grab 3 of the later guys and I bet one pans out to be a top 2 or 3 Te from this class.schiewerma21 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2017 3:36 pm Howard for me and its not close.

Re: Who Will Be The Best TE From The 2017 Class?
Yeah, the value of the TE class is in the depth and the unquestioned value you can get from the later guys. The gap i've seen between the top 3 and then everyone after was quite surprising. Makes me regret taking Engram in the 1st round when i look in hindsight of where i could have gotten Everett. I jumped in to get Shaheen just cause he was still around in the 5th round (IDP / Superflex). The top 3 are worthy of their draft slots IMO as prospects, but like others have said, taking a TE in the 1st isn't for everyone. If you want to reduce the risk there is unusual value to be had late at the position.
The fact that Njoku is leading this vote is stunning. Yes, he's very talented, but people are looking all ceiling, discounting the floor, and the odds of which side he will end up on. His hands have to improve, as does his blocking. He's a great athlete, but is young, raw, and needs to have Cleveland find the right piece behind the helm. OJ Howard gets discounted based on being too solid and safe, but he's got everything you want around him and his crazy athleticism in its own right. Eli is old, and Engram a mold of his own, but he'd be a good WR prospect let alone TE. I trust the offense there more then Cleveland as well. He has a better support model than Njoku will likely get in Cleveland, where they are still attempting to turn the culture around. I'd be hesitant with him unless he was I was getting him as the #3 TE in the draft.

Re: Who Will Be The Best TE From The 2017 Class?
Howard isn't really even a safe play. Sure, he's the most complete TE from a skillset standpoint, but we've never seen him consistently used as a receiving option. We've seen the flashes and we know the talent is there, but Howard is still as much of a projection as any other TE is.FiremanEd wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2017 5:46 pm Yeah, the value of the TE class is in the depth and the unquestioned value you can get from the later guys. Overall though, he is the best combination of talent and situation for a TE in this class. He landed in a great spot with Dirk Koetter, who has a history of maximizing TE production and one of the best young QB's in the league.
Re: Who Will Be The Best TE From The 2017 Class?
As far as TE prospects go he is a fairly safe play. As safe as a prospect can be IMO. Not sure who coming out in past years would be 'safer'. It doesn't mean he's a sure TE1, but he seemingly has low bust potential in the NFL, while also carrying elite TE athleticism and pass catch ability. He comes from an NFL style offense where he was used to block, yet still functioned in the pass game. Wasn't high volume funnel to him, but he showed the ability. I do agree that 'safe' for fantasy isn't assured as he may be used more as a dual threat better for NFL purposes than fantasy, but most dual threats are lesser athletes as well so more restricted. Being with Kotter and Jamies is a boost as well.
Compared to other TE prospects in this class I also feel his NFL standing is safer. I get the whole ceiling piece, and acknowledge that he hasn't shown the elite pass catching traits, but his foundation is strong and he can grow into Greg Olsen. His floor is higher than others too in my opinion. I say this as an Engram owner without Howard shares.

I debated grabbing some Butt, but didn't want to pay too much and already have enough at that position.

Re: Who Will Be The Best TE From The 2017 Class?
This thread has made me lean on Howard after coming in, in favor of Njoku. He just has the higher floor. Everett scares me a bit, mostly because of his very small hands. How many successful fantasy TE's have hands under 9"?

I feel like Butt's too big and hurts all the time
Re: Who Will Be The Best TE From The 2017 Class?
I can only wonder how many owners during their rookie drafts had to say "Damn it! That guy grabbed my Butt!" after they got sniped.

Don't miss this guy, you don't want to be the Butt of the joke in 5 years.

It's funny, because there's a poll in the Player's Debate between Engram and Njoku that's basically even with around 80 votes, and yet Njoku has nearly twice as many votes as Engram here.
