Fournette vs McCaffrey PPR

Postby dmac37 » Fri May 12, 2017 7:40 pm

Now that the dust has settled it seems like a very tough call who to take with the #1 pick in PPR, especially if you are going to target a RB rather than a WR.

Mixon could be in the conversation but IMO it seems to be a 2 player debate between Fournette and McCaffrey. Neither landed in a great situation but also neither in a horrible situation.

At this stage I think it comes down to in PPR, which RB do you think picks up more usage with their secondary value.

McCaffrey- does he pick up enough carries and occasional TD's to go along with receptions to be considered ahead of Fournette?

Fournette- does he pick up enough receptions/receiving yards to offset the times he does not get TD's or lack of carries when they are playing from behind?

I think if we can best evaluate this question we can best decide who to take at 1.1 if we are set on taking a RB.

After the first round I had McCaffrey slightly ahead but once the Panthers also took Samuel and the Jags took Robinson I think it is now a tougher call......

I went Fournette over CMC in a regular PPR league.

BUT... in another league that is 1.3 PPR, I went McCaffery.

Fournette for me. I wish McCaffrey would have gone to a place with a better QB than Cam.

Fournette, but it closer than most people will probably admit. CMC could could very likely outscore LF this season in PPR. Running backs also traditionally benefit, not get hurt, by having a rushing QB. Cam is going to be good for CMC.

My team has everything to win now but RB's, Lacy & AD are currently my top 2 RB's :wtf: Because I'm in dyer need of a starting RB and ready to win now I think I'm going to play it safe with Fournette but I would not be shocked to see CMac go off in PPR.

This is my current dilemma, I need RB help severely, but in PPR do you take LF, CMC or Mixon...ugh...I really like Mixon of the 3 but hate the situation with some of the heads on that team...LF is gonna get a ton of work, but who cares if it ends up being like LA rams situation and opposing defenses stack the box every game because Bortles broke his arm...CMC , I don't even know what to say about him, he is good, he looks like more of a guy that should have went to NE...

I tend to go with the "feature back" type guy here so I'll go Fournette. I think the odds of Fournette hitting and being a stud are better than McCaffery hitting. Between J Stewart, Curtis Samuel and Cam (goal line TDs) taking points from McCaffery I'd rather roll the dice with Fournette.
QB - Andrew Luck, Andy Dalton
RB - Lamar Miller, Tevin Coleman, Leonard Fournette, Joe Mixon, Christian McCaffery, Joe Williams, Matt Jones, Mike Davis
WR - Michael Thomas, DeVante Parker, Tyrell Williams, Quincy Enunwa, Josh Doctson, Cooper Kupp, Josh Reynolds, Leonte Carroo, Rashard Higgins, Cameron Meredith, Adam Thielen, Krishawn Hogan, Charone Peake
TE - Martellus Bennett, Evan Engram, Clive Walford, Virgil Green
K - Greg Zuerlein

Not to side track the thread, but see if you can trade your 1.10, 2.1, and 3.1 to move up and grab cmac too...

I did try to move to the 1.3 & 1.4 but not enough for either. I think I'm taking Fournette then going to see about a trade moving Fournette for the 1.4 (CMac or Mixon) + Hyde. Most are down on Hyde and all over Joe Will but I still think Hyde will be the man and could be huge in the Shanny system.

I also hold the 1.01 pick in a ppr and have debated this scenario myself but am also considering Mixon as well. If Fournette does turn out to be a "generational" back like some say he could be I will be kicking myself for passing on him. I haven't heard or read that type of analysis about Mixon or CMC. Plus I think Fournette could be a td hog. He has a natural nose for the endzone and the power to push a pile. Hard to see the likes of TJ Yeldon or Ivory steeling goal line carries from him too. Not sure the same can be said of CMC with Cam and Stewart there. And the same can be said of Mixon, the Bengals have always shared the duties between Hill and Gio and even the occasional Burkhead. If Fournette garners the majority of the goalline carries and converts those into scores it would easily make up for the lack of rec he will miss out on in a ppr setting.

Fournette. Not sure where the narrative that he isnt a viable receiving back came from. His qb's at LSU sucked and that wasn't a focus of their offense in general.
