the value of TE

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

the value of TE

Postby avisualpoet » Mon May 15, 2017 10:27 am

how does everyone view the TE position in a dynasty league? are TE's suppose to be valued highly or can you just stream the position weekly with a various guys? i guess my question is after gronk and kelce, who receive a high target share on their respective teams, is there really a need to have a highly ranked te on the roster? i feel like guys like eifert can net you better prospects to fill out your roster if you trade them and you stream guys like gates, zmiller, doyle. maybe im just overthinking it, but thats my position on it. any thoughts?

A lot of it depends on how many you can start (or have to start) and what the scoring is. The position itself is devalued, which is why a lot of leagues will add the TE premium aspect to try and increase their value. I agree that if you don't have one of the studs at the position, it's pretty easy to find equivalent value in the middle tiers and stream the position.

I prefer to just have someone I can set and forget at the TE position. I dont necessarily go for the guys like Gronk or Kelce because they are expensive but guys like Olsen or Walker can be had for a reasonable price and they put up consistent numbers. My opinion would change if you had to start more then one TE but if it is just standard starting requirements I am happy to have a middle of the pack guy.

thats basically what i was looking for lol. i still have some answers though that were not answered in that thread. so after gronk and kelce, is it all just a toss up in the next tier of reed, eifert, graham, olsen, and walker? then a "bunch of guys" after that in the next tier?

I like Reed quite a bit, and if I'm competitive Olsen is my favorite "cheaper" high scoring TE. Eifert has his question marks but for the 8 games he's on the field he puts up numbers.

Or don't have one worth poop you will appreciate a good one real quick.... We score 1.5 ppr on TE in my marquee league so they have high value.
